E-1 Laßt uns unsere Häupter beugen. Teurer Gott, wir sind heute Nachmittag glücklich über dieses Vorrecht, dass wir uns wieder einmal versammeln können. Du allein, Herr, weißt, wie sehr sich unsere Herzen nach dieser Stunde gesehnt haben, erneut hier vor Deinem Volke zu stehen und diese Botschaft zu bringen, die so wichtig und dringend notwendig für diese Stunde ist. Du hast uns diese wenigen Tage jetzt zugeteilt. Wir beten, teurer Gott, dass Deine Hand der Barmherzigkeit über uns sei, um uns zu führen und zu leiten. Schenke uns die Dinge, die wir benötigen, Herr, denn unsere Herzen verlangen danach, dich besser zu kennen.
Wir sehen das große Erntefeld weiß und reif und wissen, dass das Korn für das große Dreschen bereit ist. Teurer Gott, wir bitten, dass Du unsere Umhüllung öffnest und uns in den nächsten Tagen in der Gegenwart der Sonne liegen läßt, auf dass wir zur Reife im Reiche Gottes kommen.
E-2 Segne jeden Gesang, der gesungen wird; segne jedes Gebet und beantworte das Gebet eines jeden Einzelnen. Herr, rette alle Verlorenen, rufe zurück zum Hause des lebendigen Gottes und in die Gemeinschaft alle, die sich entfernt haben.
Wir bitten, o Gott, dass Du jede kranke Person, die unter dieses Dach kommt, heilst. Schenke es, Herr. Möge am Ende der Versammlungen nicht eine gebrechliche Person unter uns sein.
Teurer Gott, wir beten für uns, die wir in dieser Stunde den Anspruch stellen, die herausgerufene Gemeinde zu sein mit allen in der ganzen Welt, die aus Babylon herausgekommen sind, um an dieser wunderbaren Gemeinschaft in diesen letzten Tagen teilzuhaben, oh Gott, dass Du unsere Herzen in besonderer Weise segnest. Wir sind wirklich hungrig, Herr, und haben uns all der Dinge der Welt, von denen wir wissen, entledigt. Herr, wir haben alles Beschwerende und die Dinge, die uns so leicht umgeben, abgelegt. Gib, dass wir jetzt den Wettlauf, der vor uns ist, in Geduld laufen. Gewähre es, Vater. Mögen wir am Ende dieser Versammlung gefülltere, stärkere und bessere Christen sein, als wir beim Hereinkommen waren. Möge Gott alle Ehre empfangen, denn wir bitten es in Jesu Namen. Amen.
E-3 Ich erachte es als ein großes Vorrecht heute Abend, auf das ich schon einige Zeit wartete. Vor einigen Tagen sagte ich zu meiner Frau: „Ich werde so nervös in der Erwartung, zum Gotteshaus zu kommen.” Natürlich habe ich andere Freunde in der ganzen Welt, doch es ist etwas Besonderes mit diesem Tabernakel [Gotteshaus] hier. Aus diesem Staub hier bin ich genommen worden, als Gott mir das Leben auf Erden gab, und ich meine, wenn ER verzieht, werde ich hier irgendwo begraben werden. Wenn ER wiederkommt, wird ER mich hier finden.
Es sieht so aus, als sei etwas Besonderes, wenn ich an Jeffersonville denke. Vor kurzem fühlte ich mich so einsam. Ich sagte zu meiner Frau: „Ich habe Heimweh, ich weiß nur nicht wonach, es sei denn, es sind die Menschen, die für mich beten. Das Einzige, was ich tun kann, ist zurückzugehen und dort einige Tage Versammlungen zu halten, um zu sehen, ob wir etwas vom Herrn empfangen.” Vielleicht will ER uns etwas wissen lassen. Das große und wichtige Thema, das vor uns liegt, ist Heirat und Scheidung. Wenn eine Frage da ist, muss auch eine Antwort da sein. Es kann keine Frage geben, es sei denn, die Antwort ist da. Ganz gleich um was es geht, es muss eine Antwort geben. So der Herr will, möchte ich versuchen, darüber am nächsten Sonntag vormittag zu sprechen.
E-4 Und dann, Morgen Abend, denke ich, wir sollten hier oben sein ... Wie heißt diese Schule? Parkview-Auditorium. Wie bitte? Parkview Junior hoch. Wie viele wissen, wo es ist? Nun, ich schätze, sie werden Ausweise haben, oder, Bruder Neville? Es ist knapp über drei Meilen. Es wird ein Zeichen geben. Du drehst dich von der Straße ab. Es ist ein schönes, erhöhtes Gebäude. Es gibt Orte, an denen Sie den Arm ausstrecken und Notizen machen können, was Sie schreiben wollen, und Dinge. Und ich bin mir sicher, du wirst es ein wenig mehr genießen, als du in den Versammlungen hier im Tabernakel ganz schön aufgestapelt bist. Es wird viel Platz geben, genügend Parkraum.
Nun, ich denke, sie haben ein paar Vorschriften, die wir einhalten mussten: das sollte erst um halb sechs auf den Boden kommen. Ich glaube, es wäre eine gute Idee für uns, um 18:30 Uhr dort zu sein. Jetzt haben sie ein weiteres Auditorium hier in der Stadt, das sechstausend Sitze hat. Wenn wir wirklich gut sind, könnten sie uns vielleicht eines Tages irgendwann zu einem großen Treffen einladen, vielleicht irgendwann in diesem Sommer, wenn ich aus Übersee zurückkomme.
E-5 Wir haben Sitzgelegenheit für viertausend. Es wird für alle genügend Platz sein. Niemand braucht sich zu beeilen. Von 18:30 Uhr an könnt ihr dann kommen, ich bin sicher, dass ihr alle einen guten Sitz bekommt. Und es ist so erhöht und ein Ort hier, an dem du schreiben kannst, Notizen machen kannst und so weiter. Und das wird beginnen, wenn der Herr will....
Obwohl heute Mittwoch ist und somit eine Gebetsstunde stattfindet, ist alles überfüllt. So meine ich, dass wir von Morgen ab dort sein sollten. Wir haben es in der Hoffnung gemietet, dass es hier überfüllt sein würde und wir nach dorthin ausweichen könnten. Ich meine, es ist am besten, wir gehen dorthin, meinst du nicht auch, Br. Neville? Ein Bruder aus der Gemeinde hat dafür bezahlt. Es hat nur fünfzig Dollar pro Abend gekostet. Ich wünschte, dass es überall so wäre, dass man so vielen für fünfzig Dollar in einem nagelneuen Gebäude mit einer feinen Plattform Sitzgelegenheit bieten könnte.
E-6 Natürlich werden wir ein Opfer sammeln, nehme ich an, denn wir möchten nicht, dass es einer bezahlt. Wir werden es zurückerstatten. Sofern die Unkosten gedeckt sind, werden keine Opfer mehr gehoben.
Sollten Fremde unter uns sein: es ist nicht unsere Art hier um Geld zu betteln oder die Menschen zum Geben zu drängen. Wir lassen den Opferteller herumgehen. Das ist eine religiöse Handlung. Oft habe ich es ohne das versucht, doch geht es nicht. Das Geben ist ein Teil unserer Religion. Ich habe es schon oft ausprobiert, um nicht einmal den Sammelteller zu passieren, aber es funktioniert nicht, weil das Geben ein Teil unserer Religion ist. Es ist ein Teil unserer Pflicht. Egal, ob es nur ein Groschen ist, oder was auch immer es ist, oder ein Penny, es ist alles....
Ihr erinnert euch, dass der Herr Jesus zusah, wie die Reichen große Gaben in den Opferkasten legten und auch eine Witwe ihr Opfer brachte. Vielleicht hatte diese Witwe noch kleine hungrige Kinder, die neben ihr gingen. Doch sie gab alles, was sie hatte. Jesus fragte: „Wer hat am meisten gegeben?”
E-7 Wenn ich dort gestanden hätte, hätte ich gesagt: „Schwester, tue das nicht! Schau, wir haben genügend Geld!” Doch Er hielt sie nicht ab. Er wußte, dass ER etwas Größeres für sie bereit hatte auf dem Wege. Trotz allem hatte sie ein Heim in der Herrlichkeit, zu dem sie ging. ER hielt sie nicht zurück. Er ließ es zu, dass sie die paar Groschen hineinlegte, denn so wollte sie es. Sie mußte es gewollt haben, obwohl sie Witwe war, Kinder hatte und nur diese wenigen Groschen zum Leben besaß. Sie hatte das Verlangen, es zu tun. Seht, wenn die Menschen geben möchten, müßt ihr ihnen die Gelegenheit bieten, es zu tun.
E-8 Aber ich denke an diejenigen, die da sagen: „Wer gibt fünfzig Dollar? Wer gibt zwanzig Dollar?” Ich denke, so etwas schädigt eure Intelligenz. Ich meine, die Menschen wissen, dass man Geld benötigt, um eine Versammlung abzuhalten. Ich habe es meinen Managern nie gestattet, so etwas zu tun. Ich sagte: „Wenn ihr so etwas tun müßt, so ist es an der Zeit, dass ich zum Tabernakel zurückkehre.” Wir brauchen so etwas nicht zu tun. Doch ich meine, dass wir den Opferteller herumreichen sollten, um einen vollständigen Gottesdienst zu haben.
So werden wir an jedem Abend den Opferteller herumreichen und nur sagen, dass das Opfer jetzt erhoben wird. Und sie werden die Opferplatte passieren, und das wird das Ende sein.
E-9 Und jede Nacht, wenn der Herr will... Ich glaube, der Herr hat eine gewisse Botschaft für die Gemeinde auf mein Herz gelegt, die ich, so ER will, an jedem Abend bringen werde. Mehrere Tage war ich im Gebet. Ich werde nicht darauf eingehen, doch ein großes Ereignis ist vor einigen Tagen geschehen. Ich kann es kaum abwarten, euch darüber zu berichten. Das Hauptthema, - ich nehme an, die meisten von euch wissen es schon - ist Heirat und Scheidung. Das ist ein gewaltiges Thema, doch ich weiß nicht, wie ich mich dem nahen soll. Ich ging hinauf, um darüber zu beten, und der Herr ist mir begegnet. Ich wußte es nicht, doch Gott hat es mir gegeben. Jetzt weiß ich es. Gott hat mir die richtige Antwort geschenkt, und ich weiß, dass es wahr ist.
Ich weiß noch nicht wann, aber ich möchte die Schwestern darum bitten, dass sie am Sonntag nicht an der Versammlung teilnehmen. Ich weiß es noch nicht. Vielleicht möchten die verheirateten Frauen mit ihren Ehemännern kommen. Es handelt sich um entscheidende Dinge, von denen die Wahrheit gesagt werden muss. Wenn wir es so darlegen, dass es das „So spricht der Herr!” ist, dann wißt ihr, dass es die Wahrheit ist. Ich vertraue, dass ER das tun wird.
E-10 Und jetzt war ich hier oben im Restaurant und Jerry und alle suchen nach euch allen. Sie sagten: „Nun, wir...” Einer der Jungen war auf und sagte: „Dieser Kerl sagte: 'Ich werde diese Woche ziemlich gut rauskommen.'” Sagte: „Die nächsten zwei Wochen .... „ Gesagt, „Sie haben hier ein Treffen, Basketball oder was auch immer,” dann sagte: „Branham ist da unten, um ein Treffen zu haben.” Er sagte: „Ich werde eine ganze Menge Leute ernähren.” At das „Ranch House,” einer dieser Orte dort oben, und sie waren ... wirklich nett.
Und ich schätze euch alle sehr, denn sie haben mit Sicherheit geprahlt und schöne Dinge über euch gesagt.
Der Manager dort oben im „Ranch House” traf mich am anderen Morgen. Ich kam gegen 2:30 Uhr aus Arizona und sagte: „Nun, Bruder Branham”, sagte, „Ich habe gehört, dass du ein weiteres Treffen haben werden, also habe ich zusätzliche Hilfe bekommen”, sagte er. Und sagte: „Dann möchte ich eine Sache sagen, dass diese Leute, die von dort unten kommen,” sagten, „sie sind wirklich nette Leute.” Nun, das hat mir das Gefühl gegeben, dass ich wirklich gut mit dir bin. Denn schließlich fühle ich, dass du meine Kinder bist und ich ... oder, Kinder, eher. Und so, ich ... Kid bezieht sich auf eine Ziege, und du bist keine Ziege. Du bist meine Lämmer. Du bist die Lämmer des Herrn, die Er mich essen lässt. Und ich vertraue darauf, dass Er mich das tun lässt. Wir gehen die Straße runter....
E-11 Über das Thema „Heirat und Scheidung” wollte ich seit Öffnung der Siegel sprechen. Ihr wißt ja, dass alle Geheimnisse der Bibel durch die Öffnung der Siegel kundwerden sollten. Ich werde langsam alt und dachte, ich sollte es wenigstens auf Tonband sprechen, damit, wenn mir etwas geschieht, die Gemeinde nicht im Unklaren ist und sich fragt, was er wohl im Sinn hatte und darüber sagen wollte. Ich werde versuchen, euch auch all die anderen Themen, die so schwer scheinen, mit der Hilfe des Herrn darzubringen. Wenn dann etwas geschieht, oder wenn ich gehe, ehe ER kommt, dann steht es zur Verfügung.
E-12 Ich meine, wir haben neue Bücher bekommen. Ich sehe Schw. Vayle, weiß aber nicht, ob der Doktor hier ist. Ist er hier, Schw. Vayle? Vielleicht ist er in der Versammlung. Ich sehe ihn nicht. Ja, dort hinten! Br. Vayle hat ein Buch geschrieben. Ich glaube, mir wurde heute gesagt, dass es zwei sind. Br. Vayle, stimmt das? Du hast jetzt zwei Bücher hier. Ich weiß nicht, doch soweit mir bekannt ist, soll jeder eine Kopie davon bekommen. Stimmt das?
Das Buch „Die Sieben Gemeinde-Zeitalter” ist fertig. Stimmt das, Bruder Vayle? Es ist jetzt gedruckt. Ich weiß, ihr werdet sie haben wollen, denn sie beantworten viele Fragen, die in euren Herzen gewesen sind. Danach werden wir die „Sieben Siegel” in ein Buch zusammenfassen, damit jeder es nachlesen kann und ein besseres Verständnis bekommt. Ich meine, es ist schon geschrieben.
E-13 Zunächst haben wir es vom Tonband abgeschrieben, wie es gesprochen war. Ihr wißt, es ist eine Sache, eine Predigt zu halten, und etwas anderes, ein Buch zu verfassen. Wenn ich ein Thema berühre, dann versteht ihr es. Zum Beispiel den Samen der Schlange. Wenn jemand das Buch liest, und es nicht ausführlich dasteht, fragt er sich: „Was ist der Same der Schlange?” Seht ihr? Sie wüßten es nicht. Sollte es je in die „Princeton” Universität gelangen, würden sie denken, wir sind unverständige Menschen. Ich bat deshalb Br. Vayle, mir zu helfen und denselben Gedankengang zu behalten und eine korrekte Grammatik wiederzugeben, denn ich bin sicher, dass meine Grammatik ihnen ein Geheimnis wäre. Br. Vayle ist darin sehr gut.
E-14 Dabei, meine ich, hat unser geliebter Bruder wohl irgendwie ein wenig extra Inspiration aufgegriffen, denn er sagte, dass er zwei Bücher selbst noch davon schreiben wird. Das eine heißt: „Der Prophet des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts” und das andere „Das Gemeindezeitalter von Laodizea”.
Billy sagte mir heute Abend, dass einige tausend davon heute aus Texas mitgebracht wurden. Sie sind hier. Man wird bekanntgeben, wieviele da sind. Ich meine, sie wurden bezahlt. Ich bin nicht sicher. Wenn dem so ist, werden sie unentgeltlich weitergegeben. Ich hoffe, dass es euch erfreut. Wenn dem so ist, reicht Br. Vayle die Hand und sagt es ihm, wie sehr ihr es schätzt. Ich selbst habe es nie gelesen. Wenn ich sie lesen würde, würde ich vielleicht meine Meinung darüber ändern. Ich werde versuchen, sie in dieser Woche zu lesen, wenn ich die Gelegenheit dazu bekomme.
E-15 Heute ist Mittwochabend. Morgen beginnen unsere offiziellen Versammlungen. Doch wenn ich nun unter euch bin, kann ich nicht einfach zu Hause bleiben, da ich weiß, dass ihr alle hier seid. Es ist, als wenn eure Verwandten kommen. Ihr lauft ihnen zum Ende der Straße entgegen. Ich dachte, ich gehe hin, um euch in Jeffersonville willkommen zu heißen. Vor ungefähr drei Wochen bin ich nach Hause gekommen. Ich hatte Versammlungen in Arizona. Ich kam zurück, um mich auszuruhen, und ging auf eine Jagdreise, erlegte einen Löwen und habe somit in Arizona den Preis dafür erzielt. Ich verfolgte ihn etwa zwanzig Meilen durch den Wald.
E-16 Nie habe ich als Junge daran gedacht, doch es zeigt, wie die Dinge geschehen, und der Herr hat uns einen Ort gegeben, in dem wir seit Monaten sind und wo die Kinder zur Schule gehen. Als kleiner Junge, ich nehme an, Jimmy Poole oder sein Vater, Big Jim, ist heute Abend hier. Wir gingen zusammen zur Schule. Ich erinnere mich, als kleines schäbig gekleidetes Kind mit Tennisschuhen, aus denen die Zehen herausschauten, saß ich da, borgte ein Stück Papier von einem und den Bleistift vom andern.
Ich habe früher Gedichte geschrieben. Mrs. Woods wollte, dass ich heute Nachmittag eines davon über meinen alten Ford auf Tonband wiedergeben würde. Sie meinte: „Das müßten wir an Herrn Ford schicken.”
Ich sagte: Darin kommt zuviel Wahrheit zum Ausdruck. Ein Rattern vorne, ein Mahlen im Getriebe und die Schaltung wie ein chinesisches Puzzle... Doch ich sagte immer, das Einzige, was ich tun mußte, war, die vier Räder abzählen, ein bißchen rütteln, starten und hineinspringen. Ich sagte: Es ging gut bergauf, ganz langsam: ich-denk-ich-kann, ich-denk-ich-kann. Auf der anderen Seite ging es dann: ich-dacht-ich-konnt, ich-dacht-ich-konnt. In dieser Weise gehen wir in unserer Pilgerreise den Berg hinauf.
E-17 Ich hatte noch ein anderes Gedicht. Denkt nur, damals war ich ungefähr zwölf Jahre alt: und vor einigen Tagen stand ich dort, schaute in die Schlucht und dachte: „Dieser Löwe wird sich bald in diesem Raum befinden und aus diesem Fenster hinausschauen.” Da dachte ich an mein kleines Gedicht und holte es heraus.
Glaubt ihr, dass Gott in jeder Weise Inspiration ist? Gott muss einen Gesang geben. Glaubt ihr, dass Gott in Gesängen ist? Jesus sagte es, indem ER von David sprach. Wißt ihr nicht, was David in den Psalmen sagte?
Seht, was bei der Kreuzigung geschah! David sang es im 22. Psalm: „Mein Gott, mein Gott, warum hast Du mich verlassen? Alle meine Gebeine sind ausgerenkt. Sie haben meine Hände und Füße durchbohrt.” Ihr wißt, das war ein Gesang, ein Psalm.
E-18 Gebt acht, in welcher Weise diese Dichtung sich erfüllte. Als kleines Kind mit geliehenem Papier sagte ich:
Ich habe Sehnsucht, solche Sehnsucht
nach dem weit entfernten Südwesten,
wo die Schatten am tiefsten fallen
über den Bergeskamm.
Ich kann einen Koyoten auf der Lauer sehen
in dem lila Nebelschleier.
Ich höre das Heulen eines Steppenwolfes
dort wo das Wild grast.
Und irgendwo in einer Schlucht
höre ich das Brüllen eines Löwen.
In den weit entfernten Catalina-Bergen
an der Arizona-Linie.
E-19 Vierzig Jahre später saß ich dort vor dieser Schlucht. Der Löwe schaute mich an. Oh Gott, es gibt ein Land hinter dem Fluß. Irgendwo ist es, Freunde. Es muss dort sein. Zuviel spricht davon. All diese Dinge sind nicht nur ein Mythos. Sie sind Realität. Ich bin so froh, heute Abend mit Menschen hier zu sein, mit denen ich für immer zusammen sein werde. Dort wird keine Krankheit, kein Tod und keine Trennung mehr sein. Das Reisen wird uns nichts mehr ausmachen.
E-20 Keine Versammlung ist vollständig, ohne dass aus der Bibel gelesen wird. Br. Neville, ich bin einfach hierhergekommen, denn Billy sagte mir, dass ich sprechen sollte. War das richtig, Br. Neville? Vielleicht nehme ich ein wenig zu viel als selbstverständlich. Ich fühlte jedoch so gut darüber. Ihr, die ihr Gesänge habt, wendet euch an Br. Neville, wenn ihr singen möchtet, denn wir haben ungefähr eine halbe Stunde zur Einleitung und dann gehen wir direkt in diese tiefen Botschaften, um zu sehen, was der Herr tun will. Ich glaube, dass wir die Wahrheit haben. Damit bin ich zufrieden. Ich glaube, dass der Weizen vollständig da ist und die Hülse sich zurückzuziehen beginnt.
E-21 Vielleicht werde ich Morgen einen kurzen Vorausblick darüber geben, wie die Hülse sich vom Weizen zurückzieht. Doch der Weizen muss in der Gegenwart der Sonne liegen und reifen. Deshalb sind wir hier, Freunde. Verbleibt in der Gegenwart der Sonne, bis unsere kleine Gruppe von Menschen hier so reif wird für Christus, dass es Brot auf Seinem Tisch ist. Ich möchte, dass es das bewirkt.
Ehe wir uns dem Worte nahen, nachdem wir die Gedichte aufgesagt haben, wollen wir noch einmal beten. Dann kommen wir zum Text.
E-22 Teurer Herr Jesus, hilf uns heute Abend in diesen wenigen Worten, während wir auf Dich warten. Wir beten, dass Deine Gnade und Barmherzigkeit mit uns ist, oh Herr. Mache unsere Herzen weich; entferne alle Hülse, alle Dornen und Disteln, und laß den gesegneten Sonnenschein Gottes hereinfallen auf das Wort, oh Herr. Möchten wir eine solch große Versammlung haben, dass keine Person ungerettet unter uns bleibt und alle Kinder in das Reich Gottes kommen, und diejenigen ohne die Taufe des Geistes, mögen sie sie empfangen, Vater. Mögen all die großen Geheimnisse, die wir in diesem Zeitalter wissen sollen, Herr, uns enthüllt werden, damit wir sie in der Klarheit Gottes sehen, damit wir wissen, wie wir uns benehmen und wie wir handeln sollen, dass wir uns korrigieren und die Glieder unseres Leibes dem Worte unterordnen, damit wir wissen, wie wir in dieser gegenwärtigen Zeit leben sollen, in der sich der Herr Jesus naht.
Herr, durch eine teilweise Schulbildung bin ich zwar imstande zu lesen, wenn ich auch einige Worte nicht richtig ausspreche, doch Herr, mein Gott, Du allein kannst den Zusammenhang daraus geben. Du bist der Einzige, der es vermag. Es gibt keine Möglichkeit für einen Menschen, das zu tun. Es liegt allein in Deinen Händen, oh Herr. Gib jedem Einzelnen von uns die Dinge, die in Deinem Worte verborgen sind, damit wir bessere Christen werden und gemäß der Zeit, in der wir leben, Vorbilder des Christentums sind. Wir bitten es im Namen des Herrn Jesus. Amen.
E-23 Viele von euch haben die Bibel mit. Schlagt bitte das Buch Jona auf. Es wird so viel darüber gesprochen, dass Jona zurückgefallen war. Ich habe immer für Jona eingestanden. Ich glaube nicht, dass Jona zurückgefallen war. Daran glaube ich nicht. Ich meine, wir gebrauchen oft den Satz: „Er ist ein Jona” Ich habe bereits schon einmal darüber gesprochen und gesagt, was ich meine, was mit Jona geschah.
Es geschah das Wort des HERRN zu Jona, dem Sohn Amitthais, und sprach:
Mache dich auf und gehe in die große Stadt Ninive und predige wider sie! denn ihre Bosheit ist heraufgekommen vor mich.
Aber Jona machte sich auf und floh vor dem HERRN und wollte gen Tharsis und kam hinab gen Japho. Und da er ein Schiff fand, das gen Tharsis wollte fahren, gab er Fährgeld und trat hinein, dass er mit ihnen gen Tharsis führe vor dem HERRN.
Ist das nicht ein trauriges Ende? „Ein Mann flieht aus der Gegenwart des Herrn”, das ist mein Thema.
E-24 Zunächst möchten wir darüber nachdenken. Ich denke, der Hauptgrund, weshalb Jona diese große Sache tat, war der, dass er als Jude aufgefordert wurde, zu einer heidnischen Stadt zu gehen und eine Botschaft gegen sie zu bringen. Er dachte, dass man ihn nicht annehmen würde, denn die Heiden würden meinen: „Was hat dieser Jude mit uns zu tun?” Doch seht, etwas anderes Wichtiges, das wir daraus ersehen, ist, dass Gott nicht nur der Gott der Juden, sondern auch der Gott der Heiden ist. ER ist der Gott aller Menschen. Er wählte nur den Juden.
E-25 Die Juden hat ER lediglich erwählt. Die Juden wurden Gottes auserwähltes Volk genannt. Sie wurden zu einem bestimmten Zweck erwählt. Der Zweck bestand darin, ihnen das Gesetz zu geben. Sie konnten es nicht halten. ER hat durch dieses Volk gezeigt, dass man das Gesetz nicht halten kann. ER ist ein Gott der Gerechtigkeit. Das Gesetz verlangte Gerechtigkeit, aber es war keine Gnade im Gesetz, um die Menschen herauszubringen. Die Strafe wurde nicht durch das Gesetz bezahlt. Es bedurfte der Gnade, die Strafe zu bezahlen, die uns das Gesetz auferlegte.
E-26 Jona - als einer der weniger bekannten Propheten der Bibel - wurde gerufen, zu dieser Stadt zu gehen. Hier finden wir unser aller Beispiel. Jeder Einzelne von uns, wir rennen immer von etwas weg - von den Schwierigkeiten, von der Verantwortung, das liegt uns allen. Es liegt uns mehr, davonzulaufen, als standzuhalten und der Sache zu begegnen. Wir ertappen uns beim Fortlaufen. Manchmal möchten wir von der Arbeit weglaufen. Wir möchten die Arbeit nicht tun. Manche denken, sie könnten das Leben ohne Arbeit bestreiten. Doch ich meine, es war Salomo, der gesagt hat: „Gehe, du Fauler, und lerne von der Ameise.”
Ihr wißt, wenn die kleinen Ameisen sich nicht einsorgen für den Winter, dann können sie nicht überleben. Alle müssen arbeiten.
E-27 Es sind so viele Dinge, die wir zu tun haben, so viel Verantwortung, der wir uns stellen müssen. Jeder muss einer gewissen Verantwortung begegnen.
Wenn es so weit ist, dass ihr eure Frau wählt und heiratet, oder euren Mann wählt, dann müßt ihr eine Verantwortung übernehmen. Dann denkt daran, vielleicht baut ihr ein Haus, ein schönes Haus. Vergeßt es nicht, als verheiratete Frau müßt ihr über eure Verantwortung, die Kinder zu erziehen, nachdenken. Ihr müßt daran denken, dass die schönen sauberen Wände bald kleine, schmutzige Händeabdrücke haben werden. Dann kommt die Verantwortung, eure Kinder zur Schule zu schicken. Ihr habt die Verantwortung, für Nahrung und Kleidung zu sorgen. Alles ist eine Verantwortung. So leicht weichen wir zurück, wenn wir der Verantwortung begegnen.
Wir sehen, dass verheiratet sein in jeder Weise eine Verantwortung mir sich bringt.
Auch oft finden wir... Es ist schwer zu sagen, doch ist es wahr, dass Prediger oftmals vor der Verantwortung zurückweichen, für das wahre Wort Gottes einzustehen, wenn sie damit konfrontiert werden. Sie ziehen sich zurück vor der Verantwortung. Wenn die Wahrheit des Wortes Gottes den Menschen vor Augen geführt wird, dann ziehen wir uns bekanntlich soweit wie möglich zurück.
E-28 Ich habe gerade dort mit meinem Neffen gesprochen. Er ist Katholik. Ich taufte den Jungen vor einigen Jahren auf den Namen Jesu Christi. Dann lernte er ein Mädchen kennen und wurde katholisch. Ich hielt die Hand seiner Mutter, als sie im Sterben lag. Ihre letzten Worte, die sie sagte, waren: „Nimm dich Melvins an!” Jetzt hatte er schon einige Träume, sogar in der letzten Woche. Er sagte: „Ich bin in deine Gemeinde gekommen, Onkel Bill; du standest dort und predigtest. Ich machte mich auf, ein Bekenntnis abzulegen. Danach wachte ich auf.” Er sagte: „Ich habe verkehrt gehandelt.”
Ich sagte: „Melvin, dafür brauchst du keine Deutung. Dein Platz ist dort, da gehörst du hin.” So ist es.
E-29 Manchmal wird das Äußerste verlangt, wenn wir die Verantwortung auf uns nehmen. Als Vater muss man die Verantwortung auf sich nehmen, die Kinder zu schlagen. So etwas möchte man den Kleinen nicht zufügen. Doch als Vater oder Mutter habt ihr die Verantwortung, die Kinder zu erziehen. Die Bibel sagt: „Wer die Rute schont, verdirbt seinen Sohn.” Das müssen alle Psychologen der Welt zugeben. Es bleibt Gottes Wahrheit. Wenn dieses mehr praktiziert würde, dann hätten wir nicht so viel Jugendkriminalität und die Verderbtheit, die wir heute haben. Doch die alte goldene Verordnung des Heimes ist schon lange gebrochen. Man läßt die Kinder tun, was ihnen beliebt.
E-30 Doch wie ich bereits sagte: Prediger werden mit der Wahrheit konfrontiert und gehen dann davon. Es scheint, als sei etwas da, dass sie der Sache nicht begegnen möchten.
Oft kommen Menschen und sagen: „Ich weiß, das stimmt, Br. Branham. Doch wenn ich das tue, werde ich aus der Gemeinde geworfen.” Was soll es? Wenn du es nicht tust, wirst du von dort oben hinausgeworfen werden. Irgendwo werdet ihr hinausgeworfen. Es ist besser, ihr begegnet der Sache, anstatt davonzulaufen und zu sagen: „Ich gehe hierher und nicht mehr dorthin zurück”. Kommt zurück, höret noch mehr, forschet in der Schrift. Jesus sagte: „Forschet in der Schrift, denn ihr meinet, das ewige Leben darin zu haben, und sie ist es, die von Mir zeuget.” Doch finden wir, dass Menschen der Sache nicht begegnen möchten.
In die Gegenwart Gottes gebracht, erkennen wir, dass Gott Verheißungen gab und dass ER verpflichtet ist, die Verheißungen zu erfüllen; und wenn ER dann Seine Verheißungen erfüllt, fürchten sich die Menschen vor der Verantwortung, die Botschaft der Stunde aufzunehmen. Das finden wir überall.
E-31 Wie steht es mit euch Lutheranern? Wieviele Menschen haben sich gefürchtet, der Wahrheit Luthers zu folgen, als er mit der Rechtfertigung auftrat? Seht, es hätte das Leben kosten können, herauszukommen, Jesus Christus zu bekennen und Lutheraner zu werden.
Seht, wie es mit euch Methodisten war. Man nannte euch Heilige Roller. Ich nehme an, dass ihr das wißt. Sie kamen so unter den Geist und wurden hin und her bewegt. Man sagte, sie haben „das Zucken”. Das waren nicht die Pfingstler, das waren Methodisten vor vielen Jahren. Sie schüttelten sich, zuckten und fielen unter der Kraft Gottes. Man schüttete Wasser über ihre Angesichter und fächelte sie, weil man meinte, sie seien besinnungslos. Man hielt sie für Heilige Roller. Eure Mütter und Väter mußten es entweder annehmen und für die Wahrheit und die Tatsachen einstehen oder es abweisen.
E-32 Wie steht es mit euch Pfingstlern, die ihr die Zurückerstattung der Geistesgaben empfangen habt? Als die Taufe des Heiligen Geistes kam mit dem Zungenreden und die Gaben des Geistes in die Gemeinde zurückkamen, da wollten die Methodisten euch hinauswerfen, und das taten sie auch. Aber ihr mußtet dafür einstehen. Wie war es, als der Punkt der Taufe auf den Namen Jesu Christi hervorgebracht wurde und ihr es als die Wahrheit erkannt hattet? Entweder müßt ihr dafür einstehen oder etwas dagegen tun. Ihr tragt die Verantwortung dafür. Ein jeder trägt sie, und ihr müßt dem ins Auge sehen. So ist es.
E-33 Wenn wir in diesen Tagen die Verheißungen und Dinge geschehen sehen, die im Worte Gottes stehen, dann haben wir die Verantwortung, damit übereinzustimmen oder uns davon zu entfernen. Ihr könnt nicht neutral bleiben. Ihr müßt etwas unternehmen. Ihr könnt nicht durch diese Tür zum Gotteshaus hereinkommen und als die gleiche Person wieder hinausgehen. Entweder seid ihr weiter von Gott entfernt oder Ihm näher gekommen, und zwar jedesmal, wenn ihr kommt.
O, wie einfach ist es für Menschen, diese Dinge abzutun. Ich möchte, dass wir daran denken, wenn wir Morgen unsere offiziellen Versammlungen beginnen. Bitte gebt acht, wenn ihr mit diesen Dingen konfrontiert werdet. Gibt es darüber eine Frage, dann muss es auch eine Antwort geben.
E-34 Wenn ich zum Beispiel westwärts gehen möchte und ihr weist mich in jene Richtung, dann wißt ihr, dass ich am Ziel vorbeigehe, denn das ist Nordwest. Wenn mich ein anderer in diese Richtung weist und ich sie einschlage, gehe ich wieder am Ziel vorbei, denn es ist Südwest. Solange ich noch frage, wo der Westen ist, muss es eine direkte Antwort geben. Wenn wir mit Fragen über biblische Wahrheiten konfrontiert werden, so muss es die rechte Antwort geben. Das stimmt. Sie muss da sein.
Wenn uns etwas dargelegt wird, dann meine ich, anstatt wegzulaufen und zu sagen: „Das ist Unsinn, so etwas kann ich nicht glauben”, sollten wir unsere Bibel nehmen, uns hinsetzen, der Sache begegnen und uns darin vertiefen. Ihr seid jetzt hier in einer Versammlung. Seht euch die Sache an! Prüft es selber mit dem Worte. Das ist die einzige Möglichkeit, die Wahrheit zu erfahren. Es ist die Wahrheit vom 1. Moses bis zur Offenbarung. Christus ist die Offenbarung der ganzen Bibel.
In Ihm, in Christus, traf die gesamte Erfüllung aller biblischen Weissagungen unbedingt zusammen, denn ER war Gott geoffenbart im Fleisch.
E-35 Wenn wir in einer Versammlung mit diesen Dingen konfrontiert werden und die Kraft Gottes wirksam sehen, durch die Dinge, übernatürliche Werke, geschehen, und in die Bibel hineinschauen und feststellen, dass sie für diese Stunde verheißen sind, dann sind wir mit diesen Dingen konfrontiert und haben eine Verantwortung, ob wir es für uns selbst annehmen.
Viele Menschen sympathisieren und sagen: „Das ist richtig!”, doch das genügt nicht. Damit ist eure Verantwortung noch nicht aufgehoben.
E-36 Wenn ich als junger Mann nach einer Frau ausschaue, die ich heiraten will, und ich treffe ein Mädchen, in der ich alle Eigenschaften finde, die ich von einer Frau erwarte - mit königlicher Moral, lieblich, feines Wesen, eine wirkliche Christin, alles, was ich mir von einer guten Frau vorstelle - ganz gleich, auch wenn ich meine, sie sei vollkommen und genau die Richtige, so gehört sie mir nicht, bis ich die Verantwortung auf mich nehme und sie meine Frau wird.
So ist es auch mit der Botschaft. Ihr mögt sagen: „Es ist richtig.” Dieser oder jener sagt: „Ich sympathisiere damit. Ich glaube, es ist die Wahrheit.” Doch ihr müßt es annehmen. Es muss ein Teil eurer selbst werden und ihr ein Teil davon. Dann gehört es euch.
Wenn ihr diese bestimmte Frau heiratet, die ihr erwählt habt, werdet ihr eins. So ist es mit euch und Christus. Wenn ihr Ihn geoffenbart und als Realität seht, dann seid ihr ein Teil von Ihm und ER ein Teil von euch. Zusammen seid ihr ein Teil der Botschaft.
E-37 O wieviele Schiffe der Denominationen haben wir für die Jonas dieser Tage, die nach Tharsis hinfahren - etwa neunhundert davon. Auf dem Schiff, auf dem bequemen Wege - sie wollen der Sache nicht begegnen. Jona wollte ihr nicht begegnen und zu den Heiden gehen. Er wollte die harte Botschaft nicht dort hin tragen: „In vierzig Tagen wird die Stadt untergehen, wenn ihr nicht Buße tut!” Das wollte er nicht tun und dachte: „Es ist schwer zu sagen, was die Heiden mit mir tun werden.” Doch er mußte der Sache begegnen. Er nahm ein bequemes Schiff nach Tharsis. Er ging in das Innere des Schiffes und schlief ein, auf diesem bequemen Wege.
E-38 Es ist ein populärer Weg für die Menschen. Es ist ein leichter Weg, wenn jeder euch auf die Schulter klopft und sagt: „Du bist ein feiner Kerl.” ^Dies ist soundso und gewiß!“ Und die Welt wird auf euch schauen. Es ist einfach, den populären Weg zu gehen. Doch wenn ihr etwas anderes tun müßt, wenn ihr gemäß eurer Überzeugung den Stand einzunehmen habt, und ihr wißt, dass es die Wahrheit ist, da beginnt der schwere Teil. Da beginnt die Reibung.
O, wie oft haben wir das alte Lied gesungen:
Wie leicht ist es, auf stiller See zu segeln,
zu vertrauen in die Stärke des großen Armes Jahovas!
Doch wenn die Wellen sich erheben und die Winde wehen, wenn
die Wellen hochschlagen, was tut ihr dann?
Mir wurde einmal etwas von einer Dame aus den Zeiten der Pferdewagen erzählt. Das Pferd ist mit ihr durchgegangen auf dem Wege von der Versammlung. Ich fragte: „Was hast du getan?”
Sie sagte: „Ich habe dem Herrn vertraut, bis die Leine zerriß.” Das ist die Zeit, in der man dem Herrn vertrauen sollte: wenn die Leine zerrissen ist. Sonst verlaßt ihr euch auf die Leine, bis sie zerrissen ist.
E-39 Wir stellen fest, dass es viele leichte Wege mit Schiffen nach Tharsis gibt. Es ist so einfach. Solange ihr keine Verantwortung übernehmt, geht alles wie ihr es möchtet. Jeder mag euch, alle stimmen mit euch überein, ihr stimmt mit allen überein - ist das nicht ein Waschlappen, der sich hin und her schieben läßt. Ganz gleich, wer ihr seid und wofür ihr eintretet, vernünftig denkende Leute werden in Wirklichkeit mehr von euch halten, wenn ihr zu eurer Überzeugung steht.
E-40 Seid unbesorgt! Seht eine Frau an, die nicht gut aussieht, was immer sie auch sein mag, doch wenn sie für die Prinzipien der Frauenschaft einsteht und sich wie eine Dame benimmt, so wird ein jeder Mann für sie einstehen. Gewiß, wir schätzen es, wenn jemand für das eintritt, was er für die Wahrheit hält.
Viele werden hin und her bewegt. Zu viele Christen dieser Tage sind so sanft eingeseift, dass sie meinen, es genügt, einer Gemeinde beizutreten, irgendwo ihren Namen in ein Buch schreiben zu lassen oder ein klein wenig auf und ab springen, zu jauchzen oder etwas Derartiges, und nennen es dann Christentum. Christentum ist ein tägliches, rauhes Leben für Gott in dieser gegenwärtigen Welt. Es ist ein fortwährendes Brennen des Feuers und der Liebe Gottes, das eure Herzen entflammt hat und euch unter die Menschen stellt, um sie zu Christus zu führen.
E-41 Verantwortung! Es ist einfach, den Weg zu gehen, den die Welt geht. Es ist einfach, mit dem Strom zu schwimmen. Geht mit eurem Boot auf den Fluß. Nehmt eure Ruder und beginnt gegen den Strom zu paddeln; ihr kommt nicht gut vorwärts und es ist schwer. Wenn ihr aber die Ruder verliert, dann seht, wie schnell ihr an den Bäumen vorbeisaust, doch seht, wohin geht ihr! Denkt daran! Wenn ihr so leicht dahersegelt, wie schnell mündet ihr in einen anderen Strom oder stürzt einen Wasserfall hinunter! Es wird nicht lange dauern, dass ihr euch diesem Wasserfall nähert und mit der Welt dahinsegelt. Das möchtet ihr nicht, nein niemals! Doch ihr müßt eure Verantwortung auf euch nehmen.
Ihr glaubt es und meint, es ist die Wahrheit.
E-42 Es ist eine Verantwortung, die Gott uns in dieser Zeit gegeben hat, diese Botschaft zu bringen. Ich werde älter und weiß, dass meine Tage kürzer werden. Ich fühle eine noch größere Verantwortung als je zuvor. Ich dränge vorwärts. Wir müssen es tun. Wir müssen, wohin wir auch kommen, überall von dieser Botschaft erzählen und den Menschen sagen, dass Jesus Christus kommt, dass ER Gott ist und bald kommt. Es ist keine Hoffnung in dieser Welt als nur das Kommen des Herrn.
E-43 Ich schaue auf einige Freunde, die dort mit mir waren, als der Engel des Herrn erschien. Die Brüder hier, so glaube ich, fanden den Ort, wo es geschah. Denkt daran, was der Herr an dem Tage zu Br. Wood sagte, als wir den Berg hinaufgingen. Er weinte wegen seiner kranken Frau. Der Herr sprach: „Hebe den Stein auf, wirf ihn in die Luft und sage: 'So spricht der Herr!'” Das tat ich. Br. Wood sitzt hier als ein Zeuge.
Ich sagte: „Br. Wood, es wird nicht lange dauern, bis du etwas geschehen siehst.” Als wir am nächsten Tag alle zusammenstanden - einige von ihnen sind heute Abend hier…
E-44 Es war auch ein junger Prediger dort. Ich hatte ihn schon am Abend zuvor getroffen. Er war in unserem Camp. Er kam, um mit uns zu sein. Er sagte zu mir: „Br. Branham, werden dir auch hier Visionen geschenkt?”
Ich sagte: „Ja! Doch ich bin hierhergekommen, um mich ein wenig auszuruhen. Natürlich zeigt ER mir auch hier Dinge. Über diesem Hügel war es, wo die sieben Engel erschienen sind.”
Er antwortete: „O ja, ich begreife. Ich habe deine Versammlungen in Kalifornien unterstützt.”
Ich erwiderte: „Es freut mich, das zu wissen.”
Während ich dort stand, sah ich in einer Vision einen gesetzten Arzt, der in seine Augen schaute und den ich sagen hörte: „Du wirst dieses Auge verlieren, denn es ist von einer Allergie befallen. Zwei Jahre habe ich dich behandelt, doch du wirst dein Auge verlieren.” Ich sagte: „Der Grund, warum du mich fragst, ist, weil der Arzt dir vor einigen Tagen sagte, dass du dein Auge verlieren wirst.”
Er sagte: „Das stimmt.”
Er sah sich um, während ich seine Mutter im Gesicht sah, die ihren Strumpf auszog und ihren Fuß zeigte, der zwischen den Zehen voller Tumore war. Sie sagte: „Wenn du Br. Branham siehst, bitte ihn, dafür zu beten.” Und so sagte ich: „Deine Mutter hielt ihren Fuß hin, zeigte die kleinen Tumore auf ihren Zehen und sagte: 'Laß Br. Branham beten!'”
Er sagte: „Bruder Branham, das ist die Wahrheit.”
Dann sah ich ihn wieder dort stehen, wie er mich mit klaren Augen ansah. Ich traf ihn im letzten Herbst. Seine Augen waren besser als die all der anderen im Camp. Der Herr hatte ihn geheilt.
E-45 Als ich dort stand, zeigte mir der Herr, was geschehen wird: „Gerichte sind im Begriff, die Westküste zu treffen.” Er sagte: „Stelle dich dort neben das Feuer.”
Ich hatte eine Schaufel in meiner Hand und ging dort hinüber. Br. Roy Roberson war dabei. Wir alle kennen ihn. Er ist heute Abend wohl nicht hier, so weit ich weiß; er ist in Arizona. Er ist der Vorsitzende des Vorstandes hier. Ich wußte, dass er ein alter Streiter war. Etwas war im Begriff zu geschehen. Es war ein wirklich schöner, stiller Morgen, ungefähr 10 Uhr. Die Brüder waren dort anwesend, etwa zehn oder zwölf, brachen ihre Zelte ab und beschäftigten sich mit dem erlegten Wild. Ich ging hin und sagte: „Roy, verberge dich schnell! Etwas ist im Begriff zu geschehen.” Mehr konnte ich ihm nicht sagen. Und gerade, als ich dort ankam, kam ein Wirbelsturm von Gott aus dem Himmel, machte ein schallendes Geräusch, erschütterte den Berg, ging in die Berge hinein, schnitt ungefähr fünf Fuß über meinem Kopf dahin, so dass die Baumspitzen abgehauen wurden und Felsengestein sich löste. Es ging in die Luft und kam wieder herab und fiel wieder gegen den Berg, und das Felsengestein wurde herausgehauen. Das geschah drei Mal, dann ging er wiederum in die Luft. Br. Banks kam zu mir herüber und sagte: „Ist es das, wovon du gestern gesprochen hast?”
Ich erwiderte: „Ja, das ist es!” Zwei Tage danach wurde Alaska fast versenkt. An der ganzen Westküste geschahen Donner und Stöße und dergleichen mehr. Eines dieser Tage wird es in den Ozean hineinrutschen. Das stimmt. Was ist es? Wir leben in der Stunde des Kommens des Herrn.
E-46 Wir haben gesehen, wie Systeme und Dinge hervorkamen und all diese Dinge geschehen. Wir wissen, dass es eine wahre Antwort auf diese Dinge gibt. Die Menschen auf dem Lande gehen in die Höhlen usw. Sicher habt ihr es gelesen: „Am 16. März wird der Herr kommen.” Ihr wißt, dass dem nicht so ist. Jesus sagte: „Niemand weiß die Stunde oder den Augenblick.”
Wenn wir all diese Dinge und die Geschehnisse sehen, so muss es irgendwo eine wahre Antwort geben. Die Wahrheit muss vorhanden sein. Es gibt einen Osten und einen Westen, aber es gibt auch einen Südosten und Nordwesten. Irgendwo muss eine wahre Antwort auf das Problem sein.
E-47 Dem aus dem Wege gehen? Wir müssen Menschen sagen, dass wir in der Stunde des Kommens des Sohnes Gottes sind. Wir möchten darauf achten und immer vorangehen, bereit, einem jeden die richtige Antwort zu geben.
Es ist schon in dem Garten Eden immer so gewesen, dass die Menschen dem auswichen und sich von Gott entfernten. Im Garten Eden kam für Adam die Entscheidung, seine Wahl zu treffen, ob er mit Gott verbleiben oder mir seiner Frau gehen würde. Die Wahl mußte er treffen. Die Verantwortung lag auf ihm. Entweder würde er das nehmen, was seine Frau sagte, oder das, was Gott sagte. Er entschloß sich, mit seiner Frau zu gehen. Als er das tat, verlor er seinen ursprünglichen Zustand und hat der ganzen Welt den Tod gebracht. Er hatte die Verantwortung, die sogenannte neue Erleuchtung, die seine Frau brachte, obwohl sie im Gegensatz zu Gott war, anzunehmen oder nicht. Denkt darüber nach! Gott hatte ihnen nur acht oder zehn Worte, die sie halten sollten, gegeben: „Aber von dem Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und des Bösen sollt ihr nicht essen!” Mehr brauchten sie nicht zu halten. Nur so wenig vom Worte, und auch das brachen sie. Dann mußte sich Adam entscheiden, ob er tun würde, was seine Frau sagte oder was Gott gesagt hatte. Er ging mit offenen Augen hinaus. Er mußte die Verantwortung übernehmen. Dadurch ist die ganze Menschheit dem Tode unterworfen.
E-48 Dann kam der zweite Adam, welches Christus ist. Niemand ist Ihm gleich. Jemand sagte, ER war nicht Gott. Seine Einzigartigkeit bewies, dass ER Gott war. Niemals lebte jemand wie ER. ER lebte in einer Welt für sich selbst. ER war außerhalb des natürlichen Bereiches geboren. Halleluja! ER war der Schöpfer selbst, Fleisch geworden. Wer konnte je sagen, was ER sagte? Wer konnte je tun, was ER getan hat? Seine Einzigartigkeit bewies, dass ER Gott war. Kein Prophet, niemand konnte tun, was ER getan hat! Wer kann die Toten aus dem Grabe hervorrufen? Wer konnte den Naturelementen Einhalt gebieten und tun, was ihm beliebte? ER war Gott. Wer könnte je Seinen Platz einnehmen? Wer anders konnte ER sein als der vollkommene, unsterbliche Gott, Fleisch geworden, unter uns wohnend.
E-49 Nichts kann mit Ihm verglichen werden. ER lebte in einer Welt für sich. Kein Mensch hat je gesprochen wie ER. Wenn ER nur Seinen Mund öffnete, ging etwas vor sich. Es war ein Unterschied zwischen Ihm und allen anderen. Jemand sagte: „ER war nur ein gewöhnlicher Mann.” Dem widerspreche ich. ER war Gott. Das war ER. Niemand sprach wie ER, niemand konnte wie ER sprechen, denn ER selbst war das lebendige, fleischgewordene Wort, die Offenbarwerdung der Fülle Gottes.
Ich gebe zu, die Propheten hatten ihre Botschaft. Sie hatten sie damals und auch jetzt. Doch in Ihm war die Fülle der Gottheit leibhaftig kundgetan. ER war der Einzigartige. ER war Derjenige, der der Sache in Seiner großen Kraft begegnete. ER hätte der absolute König über die Welt sein können. ER wird es sein. Für Seine Heiligen ist ER es schon jetzt.
E-50 Dort stand ER! Ein Mensch, der nicht hatte, wo ER Sein Haupt hinlegen konnte, obwohl ER wußte, wo der Fisch war, der die Münze verschlungen hatte. Welch ein Mensch könnte die großen Wasserkrüge zu Wein verwandeln und nicht haben, da ER Sein Haupt hinlege? ER mußte der Verantwortung begegnen, die Ihm aufgetragen war. Welch ein Mensch hätte jemand, der vier Tage tot war und in Verwesung überging, aus dem Grabe rufen können? Hätte ER sich nicht selbst retten können? Doch hätte ER es getan, dann wären wir nicht gerettet worden. ER mußte der Verantwortung begegnen. ER mußte Seine Verpflichtungen wahrnehmen, im Gehorsam des Wortes, im Gegensatz zum Ungehorsam Adams, der die Abkürzung auf dem Wege nach Tharsis wählte. Doch Jesus begab sich auf den Weg nach Ninive zu den Heiden, um Seine Braut zu holen. Ich bin so froh, dass ER es noch heute Abend tut. Auch wir müssen den Tatsachen begegnen, dass wir Ihm gehören und das Weltliche von uns genommen wird.
E-51 Jeder Mensch muss der Sache begegnen und hat eine Verantwortung vor Gott. Zum Beispiel nehmen wir Noah, Moses, Elia und alle anderen in jedem Zeitalter; sie alle mußten der Verantwortung begegnen. Sie mußten es tun. Gerade deshalb wurden sie zu der Stunde gesandt.
Seht auf Noah in seinem wissenschaftlichen Zeitalter. Er mußte einer Sache begegnen, die nicht wissenschaftlich bewiesen werden konnte. Es war gegen die Wissenschaft. Weshalb? Er sagte: „Regen wird vom Himmel fallen.” Noch nie war ein Tropfen Regen vom Himmel gefallen. Seht, er mußte der Sache ins Auge sehen. Gott hatte gesagt, es werde regnen.
E-52 Und dann er.... Der Glaube ohne Werke ist tot - wenn ihr sagt: „Ich glaube es!” und handelt nicht danach. So ist es mit der Botschaft. Wenn ihr sagt: „Ich glaube es”, handelt aber nicht danach, was nützt es euch dann? Seht, Noah nahm den Hammer und begann die Arche zu bauen, um zu bestätigen, wovon er sprach. Das müssen auch wir tun. Wir müssen ans Werk gehen und unseren Glauben durch unsere Werke beweisen. Unsere Werke beweisen unseren Glauben.
Moses mußte es tun und Elia mußte es tun. Jeder Prophet mußte in seinem Zeitalter auftreten und der Verantwortung begegnen. Viele von ihnen handelten nicht wie Jona. Er lief davon, sie taten es nicht.
E-53 Gebt acht! Er mußte dagegen auftreten. Da habt ihr es! Das ist unser Thema. Predige gegen diese Stadt! Das ist der Maßstab. Er ging nicht hin, um diesen Freunden zu sagen: „Ich bin gekommen, euch beizutreten. Ich glaube und möchte euch sagen, was zu tun sei. Ich habe hier eine kleine Sache und glaube, dass wir alle zusammengebracht werden können und dies und das tun.” Nein, es war eine Predigt, die er gegen sie bringen mußte. Wenn ihr gegen etwas predigen müßt... Er mußte gegen alles predigen, was da war: „Tritt gegen die Stadt, gegen ihre Werke, gegen ihre Gemeinde, gegen ihren Propheten, gegen ihre Prediger, gegen ihre Priester, gegen die gesamte Stadt auf!” Er mußte dagegen auftreten.
Noah predigte gegen sein Zeitalter, gegen die Kirchen seiner Zeit. Moses mußte auftreten gegen die Menschen seiner Zeit, die Priester usw. Er predigte auf dem Wege durch die Wüste. An jeder Kreuzung rief er fortwährend die Menschen auf. Elia war zu seiner Zeit sehr unbeliebt, weil er gegen das Zeitalter auftrat. So war es.
E-54 Johannes der Täufer war unbeliebt in seinem Zeitalter. Er predigte gegen seine Zeitgenossen. Er tadelte den König, den Herrscher des Landes, der die Frau seines Bruders zum Weibe nahm. An einem Morgen mußte er über Heirat und Scheidung sprechen. Er trat dagegen auf und sagte: „Es ist nicht richtig, dass du sie zu deiner Frau genommen hast.” Später kostete es ihm das Haupt. Doch er trat auf und erfüllte seine Pflicht. Er nahm kein Schiff nach Tharsis und sagte: „Herodes, ich stimme mit dir überein. Es ist in Ordnung. Solange du meinst, sie ist eine nette Frau und ist dir ein gutes Weib. Mach nur weiter!” O Barmherzigkeit. Diese Waschlappen! Damit reinigt man nur die schmutzigen Teller.
E-55 Gebt acht! So war es nicht mit Johannes. Er stand seinen Mann und sagte: „Es ist nicht richtig, dass du sie zum Weibe genommen hast.” Jawohl, er trat dagegen auf.
Sie liefen nicht fort. Johannes tat es nicht. Sie stellten sich den Tatsachen. Einmal versuchte Moses davonzulaufen wie Jona, doch Gott brachte ihn zurück. Viele wollten sich zurückziehen, doch seht, wenn Gott euch gerufen hat und ihr sicher seid, dass Gott in der Botschaft ist, dann wird euch nichts zurückhalten können. Auch Jona wurde nicht umgestimmt.
E-56 Amos rief damals aus: „Der Löwe hat gebrüllt, wer sollte sich nicht fürchten. Gott der Herr hat gesprochen, wer sollte nicht weissagen?” Wer kann anders als weissagen, wenn ihr seht, dass Gott gewisse Dinge zeigt, die geschehen werden, und sie aussprechen läßt?
Wenn der Löwe brüllt, fürchten sich alle. Jawohl! Wenn ihr je einen Löwenruf im Dschungel gehört habt! Ihr hört sie vielleicht im Käfig nur miauen. Doch ihr müßtet einmal einen wilden Löwen brüllen hören. In fünfhundert Meter Entfernung fällt das Gestein den Berg hinunter. Ich weiß nicht, wie das aus den Lungen hervordringen kann. Er neigt sein Haupt nach unten, sein Fell sträubt sich; nie habe ich etwas Derartiges gehört. Es ist wie ein Kanonenschuß, wenn der Löwe brüllt. Wer würde sich nicht fürchten? Man sagt, der Tod durch einen Löwen ist schmerzlos. Zunächst erschreckt er euch zu Tode. Er erschreckt euch zu Tode, ehe er euch packt. Seht, ihr bemerkt es nicht. Er erschreckt euch mit dem wütenden Gebrüll. In Sekundenschnelle ist er über euch.
E-57 Er sagte: „Der Löwe hat gebrüllt, wer sollte sich nicht fürchten? Gott der Herr hat gesprochen, wer sollte nicht weissagen?” Wenn ihr seht, dass Gott etwas tut, so sagt ihr, obwohl ich kein Prophet bin... „Ich mag kein Prophet noch der Sohn eines Propheten sein, doch Gott der Herr hat gesprochen, wer sollte nicht weissagen?”
Ich mag kein Prophet, weder dies noch jenes sein; wenn ich wahrnehme, dass Gott etwas tut, und ich sehe es hier im Wort, dass ER es verheißen hat, wer könnte dann an sich halten und schweigen? Gewiß, ER hat es getan.
Wir können uns nicht hinter Satzungen und Gemeinschaften verstekken, die nach Tharsis führen. Zu den Gemeinschaften möchten wir nicht hingehen.
E-58 Doch viele tun das gleiche wie Adam, der einen Ersatz zu finden versuchte, um damit vor Gott zu treten, nachdem er wußte, dass er verkehrt gehandelt hatte, gegen die Wahrheit aufgetreten war und mit seiner Frau so weiterging und genau das tat, was Gott verboten hatte. Er ging einfach weiter und tat es trotzdem. Dann stellte er fest, dass er nackt war; sie und er im Garten Eden. Ihre Augen wurden geöffnet; sie wußten jetzt um das Rechte und das Verkehrte. Dann versuchte er, einen Ersatz zu finden, um sich selbst damit zuzudecken. So geschieht es auch heute. Man rechtfertigt sich: „Wenn, wenn, wenn.” So ist es. Doch wenn ihr dem ins Auge schauen müßt, so ist es entweder richtig oder verkehrt. Wenn es das Richtige ist, so verbleibt damit. Wenn es verkehrt ist, so entfernt euch davon! Stellt das Richtige fest! Ihr möchtet nicht länger warten. Laßt uns das Rechte, die Wahrheit feststellen und damit verbleiben. Wir wissen, dass das wahr ist.
E-59 Heutzutage sieht es aus, als hätte alle Aufrichtigkeit die Menschen aus den Gemeinden verlassen.
Wir bewohnen das Haus einer teuren Schwester, die zu dieser Gemeinde kommt; wahrscheinlich ist sie heute Abend hier. Sie vermietet dieses Haus. Sie ist so nett gewesen, uns dieses Haus zu vermieten. Ich würde sie bei Namen nennen, doch das mag sie wohl nicht. Sie ist so nett zu uns gewesen, und ich möchte sie nicht bloßstellen. Doch sie ist eine sehr nette Dame. In diesem Hause befand sich ein Fernsehapparat. Wir wohnen in einem Doppelhaus. Ich habe eine große Familie mit einigen Kindern. Dort stehen viele Betten. Alles ist aufgestapelt und man muss sich da hindurchbegeben, um ein und auszugehen.
E-60 Dort hatten sie einen Fernseher. Sonntagmorgens sahen sich die Kinder ein Programm an, in dem man christliche Lieder sang. Wißt ihr, man könnte sich nur schämen, wenn man nicht wüßte, dass es auch noch ein echtes Christentum gibt. Es sieht aus, als ob alle Aufrichtigkeit entschwunden ist. Es ist einfach furchtbar, wie sie mit ihren Fäusten aufeinander zugehen und versuchen, christliche Loblieder dazu zu singen. Sie erzählen solche Witze, die man fast keinem Matrosen zutrauen könnte, und sagen Dinge, um einander zu necken. Alle Heiligkeit scheint ihren Platz im Christentum verloren zu haben.
E-61 Ich gehe zur Versammlung und der Pastor gibt bekannt, dass eine Schwimmparty stattfindet. All die Frauen in ihren Badeanzügen gehen dort hin. Diese Frauen werden einen Schwimmwettkampf haben, dann eine Party, in der man Hähnchen ißt und Bingo und dergleichen spielt. Ich meine, alle wahrhaftige Aufrichtigkeit ist dem Christentum entschwunden. Man versucht, an allem vorbeizukommen.
E-62 Als wir hierherkamen, stellten wir fest, dass hier in diesem kalten Lande mehr von den Schwestern Shorts tragen als im heißen Lande. Das stimmt. Dort, wo es wirklich heiß ist, tragen nicht viele Shorts. Doch hier, wo es kalt ist, tun sie es. Sie erkennen nicht, dass es der Teufel ist. Es geht gar nicht um eure Bequemlichkeit, es wäre anders bei einem Mann. Ich meine, es sieht schon an einem Mann krankhaft aus, doch ihn ließe man unbeachtet. Doch der Leib einer Frau ist geweiht, und so muss sie ihn erhalten. Und um alt zu sehen ...
E-63 Menschen von heute, ihr könnt sehen, dass zwei Geister wirksam sind. Das Eine ist der Heilige Geist, das andere ist ein unheiliger Geist. Jeder wird von einem beherrscht. Beide sind religiös. Das ist der befremdende Teil. Beide sind religiös. So wie Esau und Jakob, beide waren religiös wie Kain und Abel, Judas und Jesus. Wir sehen es heute, beide Seiten sind fromm. Seht, es ist derselbe Geist. Die Menschen sterben, der Geist nicht. Er besteht weiter. Beide sind fromm. Die einen in Besitz genommen vom Heiligen Geist, ein Leben führend, wie es sein soll im göttlichen Wandel und Aufrichtigkeit, nicht um einen Pfennig würden sie euch übervorteilen. Sie tun alles, um euch aufrichtig zu helfen. Die anderen sind so nett wie sie sein können, doch bei ihnen stellt man das Gegenteil fest. Doch beide Geister sind religiös. Das eine ist der Heilige Geist, das andere der unheilige Geist. Beachtet, auch wenn sie den Anspruch der Religion stellen, verlachen sie euch und nennen euch Heilige Roller. Sie tun alles, was sie können. Sie ignorieren das unveränderliche Wort Gottes, als ob es nie geschrieben wäre. Seht ihr.
E-64 Du könnt sagen: „Ich bin getauft, ich habe den Heiligen Geist”, dann stehen sie da mit einer Zigarette und rauchen und sagen: „Ja, ich habe den Heiligen Geist.” Oder: „Es ist nicht verkehrt, ein wenig zu trinken. Ich meine nicht, dass es schadet.” Doch Gott denkt anders darüber. Ihr müßt es gemäß Seinem Worte sehen. Sie tun es einfach ab.
E-65 Wie der kleine behinderte Mann daherkam, als David von seinem Thron davonziehen mußte. Er ging weinend den Ölberg hinauf und schaute zurück. Dieser kleine Mann kam daher und spie ihn an. Der Leibwächter sagte: „Warum soll dieser tote Hund meinen Herrn, den König, anspeien?”
David sagte: „Laß ihn in Ruhe.” Sehr, er spie ihn an. Ungefähr achthundert Jahre später bespien sie seinen Sohn Jesus Christus. Heute bespeit man Ihn wiederum, als gäbe es nicht einmal ... Unwillkürlich, unbekümmert, drehen Sie den Kopf auf und gehen Sie davon weg und lachen Sie in Ihr Gesicht. Warum ist es? Sie sind auf einem Schiff nach Tarshish. Das ist genau.
Weil ein Gott .... Du musst gegen das Böse schreien, gegen die Sünde schreien, gegen die Dinge weinen, die falsch sind. Nun, vergiss nicht, es wird....
(Sag mal, weißt du, dieses Mal, weißt du, ich habe zwei Stunden Unterschied. In Tucson sind es nur zehn Minuten nach sieben. Ich werde hier irgendwie von meiner Stelle entfernt. In Ordnung.)
E-66 Denkt daran, wir müssen dafür verantworten. Diejenigen, die in das Antlitz Christi spien, mußten sich dafür verantworten. Als David aus seinem Exil, in dem er sich als Flüchtling befand, zurückkehrte, da fiel dieser Mensch auf sein Angesicht und flehte um Gnade. Als David dahinging, hatte er ihn angespien, doch jetzt, als er zurückkehrte, war er gewillt, seine Füße mit seinen Tränen zu benetzen. Eines Tages werden diejenigen, die Jesus durchstochen haben, es sehen. Diejenigen, die Ihn heute durchbohren, werden es sehen. Eines Tages wird ER wiederkehren. Denkt an Offenbarung 22. ER erwartet, dass wir jedes Wort, dass ER geschrieben hat, halten ...jedes Wort.
E-67 Nun, wir wissen, dass Seine Gegenwart hier ist. Es ist bestätigt. Wir haben es. Wir vertrauen, dass ER fortfährt, es in dieser kommenden Woche zu bestätigen, dass die Kranken geheilt werden und gewaltige Dinge geschehen. Wir möchten nicht die populären Ideen, wir möchten die Wahrheit. Wir möchten für nichts anderes einstehen als das, was Gott als Wahrheit bestätigt hat. Sei dessen gewiß, dass deine Sünden dich immer wiederfinden werden. Wenn dies nicht hier geschieht, so werden sie dich am Gericht wiederfinden. Irgendwann werden sie dich erreichen.
Wenn ihr wahre Christen seid, wahrhaftig gerufen wie Jona, dann hat Gott eure Reise bereits bezahlt. Steigt aus dem Schiff aus, das nach Tharsis geht. Gott hat euch zu diesem Leben bestimmt. Gewiß, wenn du ein wahres, von Gott gerufenes Kind bist, komme zu Christus. Kommt in Seine Fülle hinein. Für welchen Ort ist eure Reise bezahlt? Für Ninive, nicht für Tharsis. Ihr seid vorherbestimmt. Das Schiff fährt ab und ist unterwegs. Nur eines ist zu tun, einzusteigen. Es sei denn, ihr habt Gott in euch, sonst habt ihr keinen Frieden.
E-68 Wie mein Neffe vorhin sagte, der seit zehn Jahren hier und dort hingeht. Er geht zu der katholischen Kirche dort und hört sich an, was der sogenannte heilige Vater sagt. Dann wieder hier und dann dorthin. Was hat er dadurch erreicht? Er hungert und dürstet immer noch. Ich sagte ihm: „Dein Ort ist hier am Altar, Sohn.” Einen anderen Ausweg gibt es nicht. Wenn Gott euch nachgeht, gebt auf und kommt zu Ihm.
E-69 Denkt daran, Gott war im Boot. Gott war im Sturm. Gott war im Fisch. Wohin er sich wandte, war Gott. Gott ist dort. ER wird euch nachgehen. Warum warten wir noch länger? Laßt uns diese Erweckung richtig beginnen. Worauf wartet ihr? Wir glauben, dass das Kommen des Herrn nahe bevorsteht. ER wird eine Braut haben, die bereit ist. Wir wollen kein Schiff nach Tharsis. Wir gehen nach Ninive. Wir gehen zur Herrlichkeit, Amen! Das stimmt. Wir gehen dahin, wo Gott segnet. Das möchten wir tun.
E-70 Begibt euch in die Gegenwart Gottes mit eurem Herzen. Nicht nur unsere Hände, sondern unsere Herzen weihen wir Gott, bis ER uns völlig durchdrungen hat mit den Strahlen Seiner Herrlichkeit und Seine Güte in uns hineingebracht wurde und es zur Reife kommt, bis es zu einer Realität in uns wird, dass wir anderen zeigen können, dass Jesus Christus lebt. O, so möchten wir sein.
E-71 Denkt daran! Wohin Jona sich auch begab - Gott war im Boot; Gott war im Sturm; Gott war im Fisch; ER blieb mit Jona, bis Sein vollkommener Wille geschah. Wenn ER euch nachgeht, mögt ihr euch hier oder dort verbergen, doch ihr werdet elend sein, bis ihr das tut, was ER für euch von Anfang bestimmt hat. Fliehet nicht aus der Gegenwart Gottes. Stellt euch Ihm. Ihr glaubt, dass es die Wahrheit ist. Wenn es die Wahrheit ist, dann ist es wert, dafür zu leben und dafür zu sterben. Wenn ER es euch je als Wahrheit bestätigt hat, dann können wir uns davon nicht entfernen. ER wird da sein. Ihr vermögt es selbst nicht.
E-72 ER hatte Seinen Propheten dazu bestimmt, dort hinzugehen und die Botschaft zu bringen. Es sah so aus, als hätte ER einen anderen Propheten senden können, doch ER hatte Jona dazu bestimmt. Sogar Elia hätte es nicht tun können, Jeremia nicht und auch Moses nicht. Jona sollte nach Ninive gehen. Das war es. ER beauftragte ihn und sagte ihm, zu gehen. Wenn ER sagt: „Gehe dort hin! Jona, gehe nach Ninive”, dann kann niemand anders hingehen und es tun als Jona. Wenn Gott euch etwas sagt, dann müßt ihr es tun, niemand anders. Wir müssen uns der Sache einfach stellen, hingehen und es tun.
Wir glauben, dass wir in der Stunde leben, in der Gott etwas tut. Wir leben jetzt darin. Ich glaube, dass ich heute Abend zu der Versammlung spreche, die sich hingibt und darauf wartet, zur Reife zu gelangen. Ich glaube das von ganzem Herzen. Ich möchte sagen, es ist jetzt genauso, wie es immer war.
E-73 Wir glauben, dass die Stunde da ist, in der Johannes 14:12 sich erfüllt. Wir glauben, dass Maleachi 3:23 erfüllt sein muss. Wir glauben, dass Lukas 17:30 erfüllt sein muss. Wir glauben, dass alle Verheißungen, die ER ausgesprochen hat, in diesen Tagen geschehen müssen. Wir glauben, dass sie erfüllt werden müssen. Wir glauben, dass wir sie jetzt erfüllt sehen. Das stimmt.
Hört auf, fortzulaufen! Entfernt euch nicht aus Seiner Gegenwart! Bewegt euch in Seine Gegenwart hinein! Das stimmt. Ich weiß, es ist euer Verlangen, das zu tun. Ich habe hier Autokennzeichen sogar aus Texas und Louisiana und von überall gesehen. Wir sind hergekommen, nicht um aus Seiner Gegenwart zu laufen, sondern um in Seine Gegenwart zu eilen. Kommt zurück! Hört auf, ein Jona zu sein. Wenn ihr euch gefragt habt, welcher Weg zu gehen sei und was getan werden soll, kommt heute mit uns in das Schiff. Wir sind auf dem Wege nach Ninive, um unsere Stimme zu erheben. Wir lassen das Schiff nach Tharsis gehen, wenn sie wollen. Wir haben eine Pflicht vor Gott. Das ist die Botschaft, für die wir verantwortlich sind.
E-74 In dieser kommenden Woche - heute Abend ist es nur eine kleine Einführung dessen, was ich auszurufen habe -, Brüder, bin ich nur für eine Botschaft verantwortlich. Ihr Prediger, die ihr hier sitzt, ich bin nicht hier, euch zu verletzen. Und ihr Männer und Frauen, ich möchte, was das kommende Thema über Heirat und Scheidung betrifft, dass ihr daran denkt. Ich habe euch dieses alles gesagt, um euch begreiflich zu machen, dass ich allein vor Gott verantwortlich bin. Und wiederum bin ich euch gegenüber verantwortlich, euch die Wahrheit zu sagen. Ich werde euch nichts anderes sagen als die Wahrheit, solange Gott mich wissen läßt, was Wahrheit ist. Es sei denn, ich kenne die Wahrheit, sonst sage ich nichts darüber. Jedoch glaube ich, dass Gott mir die Wahrheit über Heirat und Scheidung zeigt. Ich vertraue, dass ER mir hilft, es darzulegen.
E-75 Noch andere Botschaften hat Gott auf mein Herz gelegt, die ich bringen werde. [Br. Branham erwähnt einige Themen, über die er während der Woche sprechen wollte. - Verf.] „Wer ist dieser Melchisedek?” „Wo hat Gott beschlossen, seinen Namen zu setzen?” Und einige dieser Dinge, die als Botschaft kommen. Und „Geburtswehen”, und ein paar Dinge, die in dieser Reihenfolge sind, und ergänzend zu einem Mann, der seine Frau auswählt, und ein paar Dinge von ihnen, die ich diese Woche ansprechen möchte. Aber ich will nur die Gemeinde ... wenn es hier einen Pfarrer gibt.... Ich bin nicht hier, meine Brüder ... Ich will nicht, dass du...
Manche von euch gehen zurück zu ihrer Gemeinde und sagen: „Br. Branham hat das und das gesagt.” Ich bin einer Botschaft verpflichtet, die mir von dem allmächtigen Gott gegeben wurde. Heute Abend stehe ich hier, Gott weiß, dass es die Wahrheit ist, was dort an diesem Fluß geschah. Vielleicht sitzen Leute hier, die anwesend waren, als der Engel des Herrn dort herabkam und zu mir im Jahre 1933 sprach, was ER tat, an der Einmündung der Spring Street. Wenn ihr hier fremd seid, könnt ihr dort hinfahren. Dort, am Ende der Spring Street, wenn ihr zum Fluß kommt, dort ist es geschehen. Es war im Jahre 1933, schon über dreißig Jahre her. Wie hat ER alles ausgeführt. Wir sind ausgezogen, die Botschaft zu bringen, sahen, wie Blinde, Krüppel, Gelähmte, Gichtbrüchige und Kranke jeder Art geheilt wurden, sogar einige Tote wurden auferweckt, deren Tod schon bescheinigt war. Menschen, die starben, sind wieder zum Leben auferweckt worden und andere Dinge geschahen.
E-76 Wenn eine Botschaft gebracht wird, geschehen Wunder und Zeichen, und dennoch halten Menschen fest an ihren alten Ansichten, die nicht von Gott kommen. Gott braucht es nicht zu tun, doch ER versucht eure Aufmerksamkeit auf etwas zu lenken.
Als Jesus begann, heilte ER die Kranken und tat große Werke. Das tut Jesus immer. Moses und alle anderen und Jesus taten es. Als ER hier war, tat ER es, und ER tut dasselbe noch heute. Wenn ER Versammlungen durch Erweckungen auf Erden beginnt, dann wirkt ER durch große Wunder und Zeichen. Wenn ihr danach noch die alte Lehre hervorkommen seht, dann stimmt irgendwo etwas nicht, denn es muss etwas Neues hervorkommen.
E-77 Als Jesus begann, schätzte man Ihn als einen feinen Rabbi. Auf jedes Podium konnte ER gehen und predigen, solange ER die Kranken heilte. Überall wollten sie Ihn haben, doch eines Tages sagte ER: „Ich und der Vater sind eins. „ Bruder, danach war ER nicht mehr gefragt. Als ER sagte: „ES sei denn, ihr esset Mein Fleisch und trinket Mein Blut, sonst habt ihr kein Leben in euch, sondern wer Mein Fleisch ißt und Mein Blut trinkt, hat ewiges Leben; und Ich werde ihn am jüngsten Tage auferwecken”, von da an war Er nicht mehr populär.
Sie sagten: „Dieser Mann ist ein Vampir. ER ist Beelzebub, deshalb tut ER die Dinge. ER konnte die Zukunft sagen. ER durchschaute ihre Gedanken und erkannte sie. ER ist ein Wahrsager.” Doch was war es? ER war das Wort Gottes geoffenbart in der Stunde. ER war pflichtbewußt. ER sagte: „Ich tue allezeit, was Meinem Vater wohlgefällt.” Oh Gott, hilf uns, dasselbe zu tun, was dem Vater wohlgefällt.
Ich hoffe, dass ihr alle versteht. Wenn ihr mit mir in diesen Botschaften mit den Dingen nicht übereinstimmt, denkt doch bitte daran und habt wenigstens so viel Respekt, dass ich eine Verantwortung trage und dass ich nicht nach Tharsis fliehe. Ich bin auf meinem Wege nach Ninive. Ich muss predigen. Der Herr segne euch alle.
E-78 Laßt uns die Häupter für einen Moment beugen. Ich möchte euch nicht länger aufhalten, doch ich möchte heute Abend wissen, ob jemand hier ist, der nicht so in Christus ist, wie er sein sollte. Ihr möchtet es, ihr verlangt danach. Würdet ihr bitte eure Hand erheben und sagen: „Br. Branham, bete für mich.” Gott segne euch. Sehr euch die Hände an! Ihr sagt: „Br. Branham, ich bin hier, möchte näher zu Gott kommen.” Eure Hände sind erhoben und auch meine. Deshalb bin ich hier. Ich hungere genau wie ihr.
Vor einigen Tagen geschah eines der gewaltigsten Dinge. Jetzt weiß ich, was zu tun ist. Ich bete, dass Gott euch das rechte Verständnis gibt. Sollte in euren Gedanken noch eine Frage sein, dann muss irgendwo die Antwort sein. Mein Gebet ist zu Gott, dass ER eure Fragen während dieser Zeit beantwortet.
Wenn ihr krank seid, möge Gott euch heilen. Wir werden Heilungsgottesdienste haben. Jeden Abend werden wir eventuell für die Kranken beten. Wir werden alles tun, was wir können, um euch zu helfen. Tut auch ihr alles, uns zu helfen. Wir werden zusammenarbeiten und Gott vertrauen, dass ER uns große Versammlungen gibt.
E-79 Nun, Gott, unser Vater, diese wenigen abgehackten Worte sind jetzt in Deinen Händen. Herr, sie wurden ausgesprochen. Ich werde dafür verantworten müssen. Die Worte können nie mehr sterben. Sie sind aufgenommen und gehen um die Erde. Eines Tages werde ich dem allen begegnen. Das erkenne ich, Herr. Ich sage es mit tiefer Aufrichtigkeit.
Teurer Gott, ich bete heute Abend für jeden Einzelnen von ihnen, für Deine Kinder. O Gott, ich vertraue, dass sie verstehen und ihre Fragen beantwortet sind, die sie heute in ihrer Gesinnung bewegen, ehe diese Woche um ist. Gewähre es, Herr.
Es sind einige hier, Vater, die Dich nicht als Retter kennen, oder die noch nicht mit dem Heiligen Geist erfüllt wurden. Möge dieses der Abend sein.
Herr, weder kann ich jemanden mit dem Heiligen Geist erfüllen noch kann ich jemand retten. Ich kann ihnen nur sagen, was Du gesagt hast: „Selig sind, die da hungern und dürsten nach Gerechtigkeit, denn sie sollen gefüllt werden.” O Gott, ich bete, dass Du solch einen Hunger in ihren Herzen wirkst. Viele, Herr, sind hungrig. Warum würden sie sonst Hunderte von Meilen auf eisigen Straßen und im Regen über die Berge und durch die Wüste fahren, um zu einem solchen Ort zu kommen und sich hier zu setzen? Dann denke ich an das, was Du sagtest: „Wo das Aas ist, versammeln sich die Adler.” Speise uns, Herr, mit Deinem göttlichen Manna. Gib unseren Seelen, was sie wirklich benötigen. Wir dürsten nach Dir, o Vater. Wir sind jetzt in Deinen Händen.
Möge der große Heilige Geist, der an jenem Tage dort auf dem Berg herniederkam, jetzt unsere Herzen durchdringen mit Seiner Güte und Barmherzigkeit und uns das rechte Verständnis geben, ist mein Gebet. Vater, wir erkennen, dass wir das benötigen, um es recht zu verstehen, denn wenn wir nicht wissen, was wir tun, wie sollen wir dann wissen, wie es getan wird. Wir benötigen das Verständnis, wie Daniel die Schriften des Propheten Jeremia las und zum Verständnis gelangte. Vater, wir haben das Verständnis durch die Schriften, vom Heiligen Geist inspiriert, wie ER es uns in dieser Stunde offenbart. Stille unser Verlangen, Herr, das wir nach Dir haben. Ergeben bitten wir darum, Vater, zu Deiner Ehre im Namen Jesu Christi.
E-80 Wir beugen unsere Häupter, während unsere Schwester das Lied spielt: „ER wird mir Gnade und Herrlichkeit geben und mit mir gehen den ganzen Weg.” Ich möchte, dass ihr jetzt stille betet und den himmlischen Vater darum bittet, dass ER euch heute Abend geben möchte, was ihr benötigt.
Teurer Bruder, teure Schwester, ER ist euch so nahe wie euer Arm. Ihr glaubt mir in anderen Dingen, glaubt mir dieses! ER ist hier, um euch zu geben, was immer ihr benötigt.
O, in den letzten Wochen war ich geistlich so hungernd und dürstend, hatte solch ein Heimweh nach euch. Deshalb sagte ich: „Billy, laß uns nach Hause gehen.”
Meda sagte: „Weshalb willst du in die kalte Gegend zurückgehen, Bill? Du wirst doch sofort heiser. Du kommst heraus, erkältest dir den Kopf und wirst so heiser, dass du kaum sprechen kannst.”
Ich sagte zu ihr: „Ich weiß es nicht.” Ich sehe meinen Freund Charlie Cox dort sitzen. Ich sagte: „Ich sehne mich danach, Charlie Cox sagen zu hören: 'Das kleine Eichhörnchen ist dort den Baum hinaufgeklettert.' Ich habe solch ein Verlangen, es zu hören.” Ich möchte um euch sein.
E-81 Ich weiß, mein Bruder Banks wurde sehr krank. Ich sah ihn in einer Vision vor nicht langer Zeit. Er lag auf seinem Rücken, und ich weiß, er wäre vor kurzem fast von uns gegangen. Ich betrachte euch alle.
Vor einigen Abenden kam ich zu der Versammlung der Internationalen Geschäftsleute, der alte Vater Shakarian, der Vater von Demas, saß gewöhnlich und hielt Ausschau, bis ich hereinkam. Dann lächelte er und winkte mir zu. Er ist nicht mehr da. Er ist heimgegangen. Dann mußte ich zu der Familie mit dem „So spricht der Herr!” kommen, dass auch die Tochter Florence sterben wird. Ich hatte es in der Vision gesehen. Ich weiß, dass sie scheiden wird. Ich sagte: „Betet! Betet nur!” Ihr wißt, ein Prophet bekam den Auftrag, dem König zu sagen, sein Haus in Ordnung zu bringen. Doch der betete, und ER verschonte sein Leben und verlängerte es um fünfzehn Jahre. Ich sagte: „Betet!”
E-82 Du siehst… Ich kam zurück, befand mich hier bei einem Essen im Restaurant. Ein Mann kam und fragte: „Bist du nicht Billy Branham?”
Ich sagte: „ja.” Er hat mich wohl nicht erkannt. Weil mein Kopf kahl geworden war, trug ich ein Haarteil, um vorzubeugen, dass ich nicht immer heiser werde. Er kam zu mir und sagte: „Ich dachte doch, dass ich dich kenne, Billy.”
Ich sagte: „Ja, und wer bist du?”
Er antwortete: „John Warman.”
Ich fragte: „Wie geht es Dip?”
Er sagte: „Billy, er ist tot.”
E-83 Ich ging durch das Gerichtsgebäude, hatte meine Steuern bezahlt. Dort rief mir eine Frau nach: „Wußtest du, dass John heimgegangen ist?” Ich kannte die Frau nicht. Ich war verlegen. Dann sagte sie, obwohl ich nicht wußte, wer sie war: „Denkst du an die dunkle Nacht, als der Fluß über die Ufer trat und die Häuser hinweggespült wurden dort auf der Chestnut Straße und du dein Leben riskiert hast und in ein Haus gingst, um eine Frau mit ihren kleinen Kindern zu retten?
Ich fragte: „Bist du das?”
Sie antwortete: „Ich bin die Frau.” Sie schrie um ihr Kind; ihr kennt meine Lebensgeschichte. Sie sagte: „Mein Jüngstes ist verheiratet und hat eine Familie.” Sie selbst ist alt und grau. Auch ich bin alt. Einer nach dem anderen von uns wird gerufen.
Wir haben Versammlungen, und ich vermisse diesen und jenen. Eines Tages werden wir alle vermißt werden, aber Bruder, Schwester, es gibt einen Ort der Zusammenkunft. Laßt uns sicher sein, dass wir richtig stehen. Möge nicht all unser Verständnis über Gott und die anderen Dinge vergeblich sein. Laßt uns glauben!
E-84 Vater, sie sind in Deinen Händen. Ich bin in Deinen Händen, o Herr. Wir sind jetzt hier, uns zu weihen vor den Versammlungen, die Morgen Abend beginnen. Würdest Du uns helfen, Herr? Mögen unsere Unterhaltungen fortwährend auf Dich gerichtet sein und unsere Herzen und Sinne ebenfalls. Erhalte Du uns im vollkommenen Frieden. Es steht in der Bibel geschrieben: „Verlaß dich nicht auf deinen Verstand.” Wir möchten nicht unser Verständnis, wir möchten Dein Verständnis. Gib es uns. Möge die Erweckung in unsere Seele kommen, bis alle Versammelten ein Herz und eine Seele in völliger Übereinstimmung sind. Gewähre es, Vater. Gewähre diese Dinge während wir beten, im Namen Jesu Christi.

E-86 Laßt uns beten, jeder aus seinem Herzen. Vergeßt die Zeit. Wir beugen unsere Häupter in Seiner Gegenwart. Diese Dame ruft: „Ich liebe Dich, Jesus.” Denkt daran - auch wenn ihr vor vielen Jahren gerettet wurdet, ihr erinnert euch, wie lieblich es für euch war - heute Abend ist ER genau so lieblich. Laßt uns beten, jeder in seiner eigenen Art. Wir wollen uns alle Gott neu weihen, uns dem Herrn neu ergeben.
E-87 Teurer Herr Jesus, Du bist der Strom all meines Trostes, bist mir mehr als das Leben. Wen hab ich auf Erden außer Dir, oder im Himmel als nur Dich? Teurer Gott, wir beten jetzt, dass Deine Barmherzigkeit und Gnade auf jeden Einzelnen von uns herabkommt, oh Herr. Wir sind hier um den Altar versammelt. Viele konnten nicht kommen. Du begegnest ihnen auf ihrem Sitz. Was immer wir Dir darbringen, Herr, nimmst Du willig an. Wenn wir Dir unsere Zeit geben, unser Talent, Du nimmst es an. Doch Herr, unser Gott, heute Abend möchten wir darüber hinausgehen. Wir bringen alles, was wir haben, als Opfer dar. Alles, was ich bin, was ich je sein werde, alles ist in Dir, oh Herr. Wir bitten, dass Du diese, unsere Gebete, zu Herzen nimmst. O Herr, gib uns diese große Tiefe des Heiligen Geistes, dass unser Leben verwandelt wird, denn wir sehen, dass wir jetzt dem Ende nahe sind. Es kann nicht mehr lange dauern. Tag für Tag sehen wir, dass unsere Angehörigen genommen werden, jung oder alt. Wir wissen, bald wird an unsere Tür geklopft. Heute Abend, Herr, während wir bei vollem Verstande sind, hier sitzend oder kniend oder aufgestanden, in welcher Position wir uns befinden mögen, nimm uns an, Herr, unser Gott.
Nimm mich, Herr. Ich bin nichts, doch was immer ich bin, Herr, wenn Du mich irgendwie gebrauchen kannst, ich weihe mich Dir.
E-88 Ich bete, teurer Gott, für jeden Einzelnen von ihnen, für diese teuren Menschen, für die ich dort im Gebirge von Arizona eintrat, oh Herr, und weinte. Hier sind sie, kniend am Altar mit uns heute Abend, betend und ihr Leben weihend. Wir lieben Dich, Vater, mehr als unser eigenes Leben. Wir lieben Dich mehr als unsere Familien. Wir lieben Dich mehr als Frau, Kinder, Vater, Mutter, Schwester, Bruder, Mann, Frau. Wir lieben Dich, Herr Jesus. Mach uns das zu solch einer Realität in unseren Herzen, Herr. Gieße das Öl der Freude in unsere Seelen, oh Herr. Schenke uns ein Wasserbad des Wortes, gewaschen zu sein durch Dein Wort, die Wahrheit recht teilend.
Herr, viele sind heute Abend hier, die noch Unklarheit über diese so wichtigen Themen haben. O Gott, öffne den Born im Hause Gottes für unsere Reinigung. O Gott, ich bete, dass Du uns in Deinem Blute waschen und reinigen und uns zu neuen Kreaturen machen möchtest. Gib uns Gnade und Stärke, das Wort der Wahrheit gemäß der göttlichen Offenbarung Jesu Christi zu bringen. Möge ER vor uns erscheinen, Herr. Möge ER kommen und unsere Sünden vergeben, unsere Krankheiten heilen und unsere hungrigen Herzen mit der frohen Botschaft der großen Freude füllen, auf dass das Evangelium in unserem Leben offenbar werde. Segne jeden Pastor, jeden Gesangleiter, jeden Sonntagschullehrer, segne uns alle zusammen, Herr, denn wir lieben Dich in Wahrheit. Wir sind Dein, o Herr, und weihen uns Dir, im Namen Jesu Christi. Gebrauche uns jetzt nach Deinem Willen.

Irgendwie empfinde ich, dass etwas vor uns liegt, in das wir hineingehen. Glaubet nur. Ich glaube, dass ich weissage. Viele, die noch traurig sind in ihrem Herzen, werden froh sein. Die großen Geheimnisse werden klar. Menschen, die traurig sind, werden voller Freude sein.

E-91 Johannes damals, als er zu alt war zu predigen, setzte er sich und rief aus voller Kraft: „Kindlein, liebet einander! Liebet einander!” Laßt nichts unter euch kommen. Haltet alles fern, ganz gleich, was es sein mag, stellt euch der Sache. Wir sind auf dem Wege nach Ninive. Begebt euch nicht auf das Schiff nach Tharsis, das euch aus der Gemeinschaft nimmt. Laßt uns den Strom zu den Segnungen Gottes hinuntergehen. Ich glaube, wir werden sie empfangen. Ich glaube es, Vater.
E-92 Fühlst du dich besser, Schwester? Das ist fein. Ich sehe es gerne, dass Kinder geboren werden. Ich denke daran zurück, wie vor Jahren auf demselben Gelände Tausende in das Reich Gottes hineingeboren wurden. Das ahnten wir nicht, als wir mit achtzig Cent in der Tasche diese Gemeinde zu bauen begannen. O, ER sprach: „Ich, der Herr, habe gepflanzt. Ich bewässere Tag und Nacht.” Das hat ER getan. Das tat ER. Gott segne euch.
E-93 Jetzt, wenn wir unsere Köpfe beugen.... Gedenkt des Gottesdienstes Morgen Abend, der dort in dem Schulauditorium stattfindet. Jemand wird hier sein, der euch den Weg weisen wird.
Liebst du Ihn sagen: „Amen!” Oh, ist Er nicht wunderbar?
Ich stand hier am Ufer und sang das alte Lied:

Und ein Wunschbild werfen

Viele von denen, die ich an dem Nachmittag getauft habe, sind jetzt dort. Sie standen dort und sahen den Morgenstern aus dem Himmel herunterkommen, sich im Kreise bewegend, und es wurde gesagt: „Wie Johannes der Täufer gesandt wurde vor dem ersten Kommen Christi, so wird deine Botschaft dem zweiten Kommen Christi vorausgehen.” Wie hätte man das ausdenken können? Doch Gottes Wort ist wahr. Das ganze Wort. Wir leben in der Gegenwart des großen Königs. Gott segne euch.

And You alone, Lord, knows how our hearts has yearned for this hour that when we can stand before Thy people again here, and bring this Message that we so vitally feel that it's so urgent in this hour. Thou has lotted us these few days now, and we pray, dear God, that Your hand of mercy will be upon us, to guide us and direct us. And give us those things which we have need of, Lord, for our hearts yearn to know You better.
E-2 We see the great harvest field, white, ripe, and know the grain is ready now for the great threshing time. Dear God, we pray that You'll open back the shucks from around us, let us lay in the Presence of the Son now, these next few days, and ripen to the Kingdom of God.
E-3 Bless every song that'll be sang. Bless every prayer, and answer every one that'll be prayed, Lord. Save all the lost. Call back to the house of the living God, and to fellowship, those who have wandered away.

E-5 And, dear God, then for ourselves, we who claim in this hour to be the Church, the Called-out, those around the world who has come from out of Babylon and to be partakers of this wonderful fellowship in this last day, we pray God that You'll bless our hearts in such a way. We're truly hungry, Lord, and emptied out from all the things of the world, that we know of. Lord, we've laid aside every weight that so easily beset us, and now let us run this race with patience, that's set before us. Grant it, Father. And may we be fuller, stronger, better Christians, at the end of this service, than we were when we entered. May God get all the glory, for we ask it in Jesus' Name. Amen.
E-6 I think this is a grand privilege, tonight, that I've waited on for some time. The other day I was telling my wife, I said, "I get so nervous, waiting to get to the tabernacle." I just… I have other friends, of course, I do, around the world, but there is something another about this tabernacle here.I was took out of this dust around here, when God gave me life here on the earth; and I guess, if He tarries, I'll be buried here somewhere. When He comes, He'll find me here somewhere.
E-7 But, look like, there is something, when I go to thinking about Jeffersonville. The other day I got so lonesome; I said to my wife, I said, "I'm homesick, and I don't know what I'm homesick about, unless it's those people praying for me." I said, "Well, I'll… Only thing I know to do is go back and have a few days of meeting, see if we can't find something from the Lord, maybe He wants us to know something."And the great, vital subject that we got before us now is Marriage And Divorce. And if there is a question, there's got to be an answer. There can't be a question 'less there's an answer. No matter what it is, there's got to be an answer. If the Lord willing, I want to try to speak on that, Sunday morning.
E-8 And then, tomorrow night, I think we're to be up here at the… What is that school called? [Brother Neville says, "Parkview."—Ed.] Parkview auditorium. What, sir? ["Parkview Junior High."] Parkview Junior High. How many knows where it's at? Well, I guess they'll have signs out, won't they Brother Neville? ["Yes."] Be… It's just above here about—about three quarters of a mile, and there'll be a sign. You turn back, off the road. It's a nice, elevated building. It's got places where you can lay your arm out, and take notes of what you want to write, and—and—and things. And I'm sure you'll enjoy it a little more than you will be, kind of crumped up in the meetings here in the—in the tabernacle. There'll be plenty of room, plenty of parking room.
E-9 Now, I think they had a little regulation we had to promise to abide by, that was, not to come on the ground until about six-thirty. [Brother Neville says, "Not till five-thirty; not to be there before five-thirty."—Ed.] And what time… ["The doors open at six-thirty."] I believe it'd be a good idea for us to get there at six-thirty.Now, they got another auditorium here in town that seats six thousand. If we be real good on this one, they might let us have the other one sometime for a big meeting, maybe sometime this summer when I get back from overseas.
E-10 And so I think we can seat up to… How many can we seat up there? [Brother Neville says, "We can seat about four thousand."—Ed.] Four thousand. So, you see, we'll have plenty of room. There'll be no rush. And so come up at six-thirty. And then everybody can come in at the right time, everybody together, and I'm sure you'll—you have a good seat. And it's elevated like this, and—and a place here where you can write and take notes down, and so forth. And that'll begin, if the Lord willing…
E-11 I think now, tonight, this being Wednesday night prayer meeting, we got… The place is just about filled up, so I think maybe we better start tomorrow night. We rented it just in hopes that maybe, if we would be enough to have an overflow here, we could go up there. But I believe it's… it'd be best to go on up, don't you think so, Brother Neville, to go on up tomorrow night? And how many thinks that'd be a good idea? And then you can have plenty of—of room. It's—it's already rented; it's paid for by some brethren here in the church. It just cost us fifty dollars a night, which is very, very… Wish I had that everywhere, could seat that many for fifty dollars a night, a brand new building, fine stage. And, but we are…
E-12 Course, we will take up a offerings, I suppose. And we don't want them man to pay for that themselves; we'll pay for… pay them back. But when we get our expenses and things, well, then, of course, we stop taking offerings. We don't…
E-13 If there's any strangers with us, we've made that a policy, to never beg, bum, push people for money. We pass the collection plate, which is just… That's a religious act. I've tried it, many times, not even to pass the collection plate, at all, but it don't work. See? Because, giving is a part of our religion. It's a part of our duty. No matter if it's just a dime, or whatever it is, or a penny, it's all…
E-14 So you remember, Jesus seen a widow passing by, one day, where the rich man was putting in much of their treasure in the treasury. And this widow passed by, maybe a couple little, hungry children walking by her side, and gave everything she had, three pennies. And Jesus said, "Who paid the most?"
E-15 Now, if I had been standing there, I'd a-said, "Don't do that, sister. We—we, look, we got plenty of money." But He never stopped her. See? He—He knew He had something greater for her down the road. So, see, after all, she had a home in Glory, that she was going to. And He never stopped her. He let her put her three pennies in, because it was just she wanted to do it. And she had to want to do it; with children, and a widow, and only three pennies to live on. She, she had to want to do that. So, you see, when people want to give, you've got to give them the opportunity to do so.
E-16 But I think of these standing, and people saying, "Who will give fifty dollars? Who will give twenty dollars?" I think that's detrimental to your—to your intelligence. I—I think that the people realizes that it takes money to—to run a—a meeting. And I never would let them do it, the managers. I said, "Whenever you have to do that, then it's time for me to return back to the tabernacle. So, we won't have to do that." But I—I do think that we have to pass the offering plate, in—in order to make it a complete religious service.
E-17 And so they probably will pass a little offering plate each night, say something like, "Well, we're take up the offering now." And they'll pass the offering plate, and that'll—that'll be the end of it.
E-18 And each night, if the Lord willing, I think the Lord has laid upon my heart a very definite Message for the Church. I've been several days in prayer. And I won't go into that, because a great phenomena happened the other day that was really great. And I'm anxious to tell you about it. And now, the main subject, I suppose, which most all of them, Billy said, had been calling, was on the Marriage And Divorce. Which, it is a great—a great subject, and I—I didn't know how to approach it. And I went up to pray about it, and the Lord met me. And I know that I, by… I don't have it, but God has given to me; I have it now. God has given to me the correct answer, see, see, and I—I know that it's true.
E-19 And so I don't know just exactly yet, maybe, Sunday I might ask our sisters just to omit the meeting, themselves, but I—I don't know. It'd be depend on if the married women wants to come with their husbands. There—there is some real vital things has to be told, the truth about, and how… And so we want to absolutely lay it out, of THUS SAITH THE LORD, then you've got it then. You know just what is Truth then. And I'm trusting Him to do that.
E-20 And, now, I was up here at the restaurant the other day, eating, and—and Jerry and all of them looking for you all. They said, said, "Well, we…" Some, one of the boys was up, said, this fellow said, "I'm going to come out pretty good this week," said, "they got… Or, these next two weeks." Said, "They got a—a meeting here, of basketball, or something another." Said, then said, "Branham's down there, is going to have a meeting." He said, "I'll feed a whole lot of people." At the Ranch House, one of those places up there. And they were… been really nice.
E-21 And I appreciate you all, for they certainly did brag and say nice things about you.
E-22 The manager up there at the Ranch House met me the other morning. I got in about two-thirty, from Arizona. And he said, "Well, Brother Branham," said, "I hear you're going to have another meeting." Said, "I got some extra help," he said. And said, "Then I want to say one thing, that those people that come from down there," said, "they really are nice people." Now, that made me feel real good about you, see.Cause, after all, I kind of feel that you're my kids, and I—I… or, children, rather. And so I… Kid refers to a goat, and you're not a goat. You're my lambs. How is that? You're the Lord's lambs that He has let me feed. And I trust that it'll—it'll… that He'll let me do that. We're going on down the road.
E-23 And about this Marriage And Divorce, I've wanted to speak on it ever since the time that those Seven Seals. You know, the myst-… All mysteries was supposed to be made known in them, opening them Seven Seals, all mysteries of the Bible. And I'm thinking now, getting kind of old, I—I think I… I thought I'd better at least put it on tape, whether if something would happen to me, then the Church might wonder, "Wonder what he had on his mind? What would he say?" And all those subjects that seems to be so hard; I think, the… by the Lord's help, I'm going to try to bring them to you. And then—then if something happens, and if I happen to go before He comes, you—you'll have it on record then.
E-24 I think we got some new books out. I see Sister Vayle; I don't know whether the doctor is here or not. Is he here, Sister Vayle? He is probably in the meeting. I don't see him. But, oh, yes, way in the back. And Brother Vayle has wrote a book, and it's a… I thought, I believe they said today, two. Brother Vayle, is that right, you have two here now? Two books. Now, I don't know, I… The way I understand, that each person gets a copy. So I… If you… That's the way I understand. I may be wrong in that.
E-25 And then The Seven Church Ages has been finished (is that right, Brother Vayle?) and on print now. And I know you'll want to get them, 'cause they answer a lot of questions that's been in your hearts. And then after that, well, we're going to try to get the Seven Seals opened, you know, in the book, so that each one can read in form that they—that they want to, can understand and study it. I think when it's wrote out, if it…
E-26 First, we took it right off of the tape, the way it was written or spoken. You know, you can preach a sermon, is one thing, and then write a book is another. See, like I'd happen to touch on a subject, like I'd say to you, you'd understand, I'd say, "Now, the serpent's seed," see.Well, now, the reader of that book, if you took that off, would wonder, "What is the serpent's seed?" See? And they wouldn't know. If that happened to go into such a place like Princeton or somewhere, and they—they would think we were unintelligent people.So I got Brother Vayle to kind of help me with this and keep the line of the same thought, and give it grammar. And I'm sure my grammar they would… It would be a mystery to them, sure enough. So the… Brother Vayle is really good on that, so he's as a…
E-27 And then, in that, I think our precious brother must have picked up a little extra inspiration, somehow, and he said he was going to write a couple of books of his own, off of them, like. And so he wrote one called, I believe, The Twentieth-Century Prophet, and another one, Laodicea Church, I believe, or something like that.
E-28 And Billy told me that, tonight, that I believe several thousand of them arrived today; somebody brought them from Texas. And so, they, they'll be here. And they'll announce it, I think, whatever they are. I think they're sponsored. I'm not sure. And if they are, they'll be given away to you, you see, too, free. And we hope you enjoy it. And if you do, shake Brother Vayle's hand back there and tell him how much you appreciate it. I've never read it, myself. If I would read them, I might change my mind about that, so I'll try to read them this week while I got a chance, if I can.
E-29 Now being Wednesday night, our meeting officially begins tomorrow night. But I think, in being here among you, I—I—I just couldn't stay up there at the house and—and know that you all were down here. I… Just like, you know, like some of your kinfolks come in, you know, and you run down to the end of the lane to meet them, you know. And—and I—I thought I'd just run down and—and welcome you to Jeffersonville. And so this last week I about…No, I beg your pardon, it's been about three weeks ago, I come home. I had been out trying to… Been on some meetings through Arizona there, and I come back to try to relax. And I went on a hunting trip, and I—I got the Arizona state record lion. I run him through twenty miles of timber to get him.
E-30 But then to think, though, that I never thought when I was a little boy… Just to show how these things happen, a little place that the Lord has given us up there, for the months that we're out there, and school for the kids.I was a little boy. I guess Jimmy Poole is here tonight, maybe his dad is here, big Jim. We went to school together, and I remember setting there, as a little old ragged kid, and shoes, tennis shoes on, toes out of them; borrow a piece of paper from one, and a pencil from another.
E-31 I used to write poetry. And Mrs. Woods, here, had me to recite that this afternoon on tape, about my old Ford, you know, and it's—it's a good one. Now, she said, "Well, you ought to send that to Mr. Ford."I said, "There is too much truth, I believe," about a rattle in the front, and a grind in the rear, and a Chinese puzzle for a steering gear. But I… It's—it's a… But I always said, only thing I had to do is count four tires, and shake it enough to get it to start and then get in it. I said, "It was good when I would start up a hill with it, just go a pulling real slow, saying, 'I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.' Then start, the other side, saying, 'I thought I could, I thought I could.'" See?That's the way we pull this hill, like Pilgrim's Progress. So we…
E-32 I had a little poem I wrote, something like this. And said… Now, just think, I was only about twelve years old. And standing up there, the other day, looking up that canyon; and thinking, "That lion will be setting right here in this den room, looking out the window," in a glass window. I was thinking of a little poem. I went back and picked it up, something like this. Just think how God…
E-33 Do you believe God is in all inspiration? [Congregation says, "Amen."—Ed.] God has to write a song. Do you believe God is in songs? ["Amen."]Jesus said so. He referred back to David, "Don't you know what David said in the Psalms? You know, has not…"
E-34 Look at the very crucifixion. David sang it, in the 22nd Psalm, "My God, My God, why has Thou forsaken Me? All My bones, they stare at Me. They pierce My hands and My feet." You know, and that was a song. Psalms is a—is a song.
E-35 And in this poetry, just watch how it come to pass. Setting there, a little old kid with a borrowed sheet of paper, I said:I am lonesome, oh, so lonesome for that far away southwest,Where the shadows fall the deepest over the mountain crest.I can see a lurking coyote all around the purple haze;I can hear a lobo hollering down where the longhorns graze.And somewhere up a canyon I can hear a lion whine,In that far off Catalina Mountains at the Arizona line.
E-36 Forty years later, I'm setting right there at that canyon, that lion looking me in the face.O God, there's a Land beyond the river somewhere, friends. It's just… It's got to be there. See? There's—there's too much speaking of it. All these things are not just myths; they are… They are real. They are realities. I'm so glad to be here tonight, to be with these people that I'm expecting to live over There forever with, where there'll be no more sickness, or death, or separations. And travel will be nothing to us then.
E-37 Now, I think no meeting is complete without reading the Word and having a little…Brother Neville, I just walked up here. Billy said you wanted me to speak. Was that right, Brother Neville? [Brother Neville says, "Amen. Yes. Sure."—Ed.] I maybe taken a little too much for granted, but I—I just felt so good about it. ["Well, amen! Sure do!"]So, now, you that's got songs and things, you see Brother Neville when you're going to sing, and then just have it, up there. And have just about a half hour preliminary, and let's get right into these real deep Messages and see what we can see the Lord will do. And I just trust…
E-38 I—I believe we have Truth. I'm satisfied of that. And I believe the wheat is, absolutely, the shuck is pulling away from it. You know. And, see, I may give a little prelude on that, tomorrow night, see, how the shuck is pulling away from the wheat. But the wheat has to lay in the Presence of the Son, to ripen. And that's what we're here for, friend, stay in the Presence of the Son till our little group of people here, till it becomes so ripe to Christ, it become bread on His table. That's what I want it to do.
E-39 And now before we approach the Word, after reciting poems, and so forth, let's pray again. Then we're going to take a text.
E-40 Dear Jesus, help us tonight now, in these few words, as we wait upon Thee. And we pray that Your grace and mercy will be with us, Lord. And tender our hearts; move back all the shucks, the thorns, the thistles, let the blessed sunshine of God fall in upon the Word, Lord. And may we have such a great meeting till there'll not be an unsaved person among us, all the children will be in the Kingdom of God. Those without the baptism of the Spirit, may they receive It, Father. May all the great mysteries that we are supposed to know at this age, Lord, be unveiled to us; and we'll see the plainness of God, so that we'll know how to behave ourselves and act, correcting ourselves and bringing the members of our body into discipline to the Word, that we might know how to live in this present day at the approaching of the Lord Jesus.
E-41 As I read of Thy Word tonight, Lord, I might, by a partial education, be able to read in some of the words, and maybe mispronounce others. But, Lord God, You alone can pull the context out of there. You're the only One that can do it. There's no—no way for a human being to ever do it; it lays in Your hands, Lord. So give to us, each night, them things that's hid in Thy Word, that we might be better Christians and live according to the time that we're living in, as examples of Christianity. We ask in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.
E-42 Now, many of you, in your Bibles, I want you to turn to the Book of Jonah. It's a… We always talk so much about Jonah being a backslidden and everything. I've always took up for Jonah. I do not believe that Jonah was backslid. I—I do not believe that. I believe it's just… We just sometimes use it, say, "He's a Jonah." But if we… I've already spoke on it, in another way, in telling how that I thought, Jonah, what took place.Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,Arise, and go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
E-43 Isn't that a sad ending? A Man Running From The Presence Of The Lord, and that's my subject.
E-44 Now, first we want to think of this. Jonah was… The reason, the principal reason, that I believe that he did this great thing here, was because Jonah was a Jew. And he was asked to go to a Gentile city, to cry out against it; thinking that he would not be received. Because, the Gentiles would think, "What's this Jew got to do with us?" But, you see, another thing, it gives us a great thing here to see, that God not only is God of the Jew, but He's God also of the Gentile. He is God of all people.
E-45 He just chose the Jews. The Jews was called God's chosen people. They were chosen for a specific cause. And that cause was, to give to them the law, and they could not keep it. And He just showed, by that people, that the law could not be kept, and that He was a—a—a God of righteousness. And the law demanded righteousness, but there was no grace in law, to bring a man out. No penalty was paid by the law, but it taken grace to pay that penalty, or to where the law put us under.
E-46 And Jonah here was called on, as this, one of the minor prophets of the Bible, to go down to this city.And here we find an example of all of us. Every one of us, we always are running from something. We run from trouble. We run from responsibilities. We, we're all prone to do that. We, we are, we are more prone to run than we are to stand and face it out. See, we just… We—we—we find ourselves running.Sometimes we find ourselves prone to run from work. We don't want to, we don't want to work. Some people just thinks they can make their living without working. But, I think, Solomon it was that said we could find here the answer, in watching an ant.
E-47 You know, a little ant, they tell me if that (every) ant doesn't work and lay in, that ant doesn't eat that winter, either. So, everybody has to—to work.
E-48 We got so many things we have to do, so much responsibility that we have to face. Everybody has got to face a certain responsibility.
E-49 When you—when you come to—to choose your wife, to get married, or choose your husband, you—you've got to take a responsibility. And then you must remember… Maybe you build a home; it's a nice pretty home. And then, remember, as a married woman, you got to think of the responsibility of raising children. And you got to think of them pretty, slick walls is going to have little, dirty handprints all over them. Then you got the responsibility of educating your children. You got the responsibility of clothing and feeding.
E-50 Everything is a responsibility. And it's so easy, when the responsibilities face us, to shirk from them. And we find out that marriage is a responsibility, in all manners.
E-51 Even, many times, we find… This is hard to say, but it's true, that ministers, many time, shirk a responsibility for standing for the true Word of God when they're confronted with It. They'll shirk that responsibility. When Truth of the Word of God is brought face to face with we human beings, we have… we are prone to shirk back until the last resource.
E-52 I just got through talking to my little nephew up there. He's a Catholic, and he… And I baptized that boy, in the Name of Jesus Christ, here a few years ago, and he got with some little girl and turned Catholic. And I held his mother's hand while she was dying over there. She said to me, the last words, "Take care of Melvin." And he's just been dreaming dreams. He just can't… Every, every day, the last week, he's been dreaming dreams. Said, "I'd walk into your church, Uncle Bill, and you was standing there preaching. I'd run up, to start to make a confession. I'd wake up." He said, "I—I been wrong."I said, "Melvin, you don't need no interpretation for that. Your place is down there where you belong." That's right. See?
E-53 But to face up to responsibilities, sometimes it takes the very hide off of us, to do that. As a father, to face up the responsibility, to give your child a whipping. Them little fellows, you don't want to do that. But as a father or a mother, you've got to face the responsibility of raising that child, because the Bible said, "Spare the rod and you'll spoil your son." And that still stands good in the sight of every psychologist there is in the world. That still remains God's Truth. If there had been more of that practiced, we wouldn't have had so much juvenile delinquency and stuff, and the rot we got in the world today. But the old golden rule of the home has been broken, long time ago, and they let the kids do whatever they want to.
E-54 But even as I said, ministers, they'll come face to face with Truth, and then walk away from It. See, they're—they're just have… There seems like there is something that they—they don't want to face up to it.
E-55 Many times I've had people come, say, "I know that's right, Brother Branham, but if I did that, they would kick me out of the church." What of it? If you don't, they're going to kick you out, up There. So you got to be kicked out, somewhere, see. So you might as well face up to it, instead of running from it and say, "Well, I'll go over here. I won't go back." Go back, sure, listen to some more of It.Search the Scriptures. Jesus said, "Search the Scriptures, for in Them you think you have Eternal Life, and They are They that testify of Me." But we find that people won't face up with that.
E-56 Being brought to, into the Presence of God, and see when God made a promise, and God is obligated to that promise. And when He brings that promise to pass, then people are afraid to face up to the responsibility of coping with the Message of the hour. We find that everywhere.
E-57 How about you Lutherans? How many Lutherans was afraid to, people was afraid to face up to Luther's Truth when he come forth with justification? Look what it cost you, maybe your own life, to come out and confess Jesus Christ and—and become a—a Lutheran.
E-58 Look at you Methodists, how it used to be, you all were called holy-rollers. I guess you knowed that. And they'd get under the Spirit, and jerk back and forth. And they said they—they had "the jerks." The Meth-… That, no, that ain't Pentecostals; that was Methodists, long years ago. And they jerked, and shook, and fell under the power of God. And they throwed water in their faces, and fanned them with fans, thought they passed out. And, now, you were considered a bunch of holy-rollers. But you had, your mothers and fathers, had to either accept It, face up to the Truth and facts, or turned her down.
E-59 What about you Pentecostals that received the restoration of the gifts, when the baptism of the Holy Ghost come out, with speaking in tongues, and the gifts of the Spirit coming back in the church? Why, the Methodists wanted to kick you out, and they did do it. But you had to face up to it. It's something you had to do.What about the issue, when it come out, about the baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ, and you saw it was the Truth? You have to face up to it, or do something about it.You have got a responsibility, everybody has, and you must face up to these things. All right.
E-60 And when you see then, in this day now, when the Word of God has made these promises of things that we see happening now, then we've got the responsibility to either face up to It or get away from It. You have… You just can't stay neutral. You've got to do something about It. Said… Some move has got to be made.You can't come in that church door and go out the same person you come in. You're either further away, or closer to God, every time you come in or go out there.
E-61 Oh, how easy it is for people to shirk these things. And I want us to think of these when we start into the official services tomorrow night, that, I want you to notice when something is confronted, if you… if there's a question about it. If there's a question about it, there's got to be an answer.
E-62 Say, for instance, I said I was going west, and you pointed me this way. Well, the first thing you know, I would run plumb a pass my target, and I'm too… I'm northwest. Well, what if somebody points me down this way, and I go that way? I'll pass my target again; I went southwest. Well, as long as there's a question, which a way is west, there's got to be a direct answer somewhere.And when these questions confront us, about the Bible Truths, there's got to be the right answer somewhere. That's right. It's got to be there.
E-63 And when we see Something presented. I think, instead of just run away, say, "Ah, nonsense! I couldn't believe a thing like That. I couldn't believe That." Why don't you take the Bible, and set down and face up to It. Study It. You're here in the meeting now, just look It over. Check It out, yourself, with the Word. Check the Word, by the Word. That's the only way to make It tell the Truth. And It must tell the Truth, from Genesis to Revelations.
E-64 Christ is the revelation of the whole Bible. In Him, Christ, all the fulness. Fulfilling of all the prophecies of the Bible is met unconditionally in Christ Jesus, 'cause He was God manifested in the flesh.
E-65 Now when we find these things, though, when we're confronted and come into a meeting, and see the Power of God moving and doing things, and doing supernatural works, and see it performed, and look in the Bible and see that it's promised for this hour; then when we see those things, then we are confronted with the responsibility to either accept it, I mean, as for ourselves.
E-66 Now, many people sympathize, many people say it's right. But that don't—that don't make it what… That ain't the thing that you're responsible for. As I've said, what if there…
E-67 If I was a young man, and looking for a wife, to be married; and here stood a girl that met every qualification that I thought it took to make a woman. Why, morally she was a queen, and lovely, and—and a fine personality, a real Christian, everything that I could think of, to make me a good wife. No matter how much I say she's perfect, she's exactly right, she isn't mine till I accept her and the responsibility of her being my wife.
E-68 That's the same thing the Message is. You might say, "It's right, or this, that, or the other." And say, "I sympathize with It. I believe It's the Truth." But you've got to accept It; and It's got to become a part of you, and you a part of It. You've got… Then, It's yours.
E-69 When you marry this certain woman that you have chosen, you are—you are one then.And that's the way you are with Christ. When you see Him manifested and made real, then you are a part of Him, and He is part of you. And, together, you're a part of the Message.
E-70 Oh, how many denominational ships have we got going down to Tarshish, for the Jonah's of these days, nine hundred of them, something, a ships that takes the easy route. Don't want to face up to it.Jonah didn't want to face up, the thing of going to the Gentiles. He didn't want to take that cruel Message over there, "Within forty days, you'll perish if you don't repent." He hated to do that. And he thought, "Them Gentiles, is hard to tell what they'll do to me." But he had to face up to it. See? But he took a easy ship and went down to Tarshish, went down in the hull of the ship and went to sleep; took the easy route.
E-71 It's a easy way, it's a popular way with the people. It's easy to take the way where everybody can pat you on the back and say you're a good fellow, "And this is so-and-so and certain," and the world will look upon you. It's easy to go the popular way. But when—when you have to do something different, when you have to stand to your conviction of what you know to be the Truth, there is where the hard part, that's the rub comes, right there.
E-72 Oh, as we've often sang that old song:How easy while sailing the sea, and it's calm,To trust in the strength of Jehovah's great arm.But, oh, let the waves begin to blow, let—let the wind blow and whip up the waves, then what do you do?
E-73 Something like I was told, one time, that a lady said. Back in the horse and buggy days, that said the horse run away with her, going from church. Said, "What'd you do?"
E-74 Said, "I trusted the Lord until the lines broke." Well, that's the time to trust the Lord, after every… after the lines is broke. You're trusting in the lines until they're broke. Yes.
E-75 And so we find out that we have many easy ways to go, ships going down to Tarshish, for it's easy, the unresponsibilities. It just flows in, you have everything coming; everybody likes you. And, everybody, you're a… Nobody disagree with you; you disagree with nobody. Now, if that ain't a dishrag! That's right. Yes, push over, flop over! Why, anybody, I don't care who you are, and what you're standing for… Actually, decent-thinking people will think more of you if you'll stand for your conviction of what's right. Right. Don't care…
E-76 You take a woman, she might be ever not very attractive, and whatever she is; but you let that woman stand for principles of womanhood, let her stand like a lady; and if a man's got a ounce of man about him, he'll take up for her. Absolutely. We appreciate something that—that somebody has got, that they believe that it's the truth and will stand for what they think is right.
E-77 How wishy-washy, that's what's too many Christians today, are so soft-soaped and everything, until they think all they do is join a church, go in somewhere, put their name on a book, or do a little something, jump up-and-down, shout, or—or something like that, and call it Christianity.Christianity is a everyday, rugged life, living for God in the… this presence world. It's a constant burning of the Fire and love of God, in the heart, that sets you afire and puts you out yonder with the people, and making converts to Christ. Responsibilities.
E-78 But it's easy to go the way the world goes. It's easy to flow down the stream.Go out there and set down in the river, with your boat. You get your oars and start pulling up against the current; you don't make much time, and it goes hard. But you just once let loose the oars and watch how fast you pass the trees, going down, but look where you're going!When things are floating easy, remember, you're going towards a—a great cataract down there, of some sort. You're going towards the falls, and it won't be long you'll be going over that falls. Just floating with the world, easy, the way it goes, you don't want that. No, sir. But you must res-… accept your responsibility.
E-79 Now, you believe It, and you've a-… You think It's the Truth.
E-80 And the responsibility that God has given us in this day, to bring this Message! And as I get older, and I know my days are shortening up, I feel the responsibility greater than I ever felt. Pressing on, we must do it! We must get down to it, in everywhere we go, and tell the Message; and—and tell the people that Jesus Christ is coming, that He's God and He's coming soon. There's not a—not a hope left in the world but the Coming of the Lord.
E-81 Looking back there at some friends that was with me up there when the Angel of the Lord… These boys setting here, I believe they found the place where it happened up there. And just remember what the Lord said that day, to Brother Woods. Was walking up the hill. And—and he was kind of weeping, because of his wife being sick. And the Lord said, "Pick up that rock and throw it up in the air, and say, 'THUS SAITH THE LORD.'" And I did that. And Brother Woods is setting as a witness.
E-82 And I said, "Brother Woods, it won't be long till you're going to see something happen." And the next day, when we were standing there, all of us together… And a bunch of the man standing right here tonight.
E-83 A young preacher was there, and he was a… I noticed… I just met him the night before. He was in our camp. He come up to be with us. And he said to me, he said, "Brother Branham, do you ever see visions, out like this?"
E-84 I said, "Yes, sir. But I come out here to get away from it, to kind of rest a little bit." He said… "Well," I said, "I—I… Course, He shows me things out here." And I said, "Just over the hill here, where the seven Angels appeared down in there."He said, "Yeah, I understand." Said, "I was one of the sponsors on your meeting over in California."I said, "Well, I'm certainly glad to know that."
E-85 And while standing there, just then I looked around and I seen kind of a heavyset doctor looking into his eyes, and I heard him say, "You're going to lose that eye, because there's a allergy in there. And I've doctored it for two years, and you're going to lose that eye."I said, "Reason you asked me that, because your doctor told you the other day you was going to lose that eye."And he said, "That's right," and he looked around like that.
E-86 And I seen his mother take off one of her stockings and hold her foot out, with little tumors hanging down between her toes, up-and-down her leg; and said, "If you see Brother Branham, tell him to pray for this."And I said, "Your mother hand her… stuck her foot out like that, and said she had… has got little tumors all over her—her toes, and like that; and said, 'Have Brother Branham pray.'"He said, "Brother Branham, that's the truth."
E-87 I looked back. When I did, I seen him standing there looking at me, like that, with his eyes just as bright. I met him this fall; he had better eyes than anybody in the camp. The Lord had healed him and made him well.
E-88 While I was standing there, the Lord said, showed me what was going to happen. "Judgment is fixing to strike the West Coast." And He said, "Get over there, beside of that fireplace."
E-89 And I had a shovel in my hand; walked over there. And Brother Roy Roberson, all of us know him here. He's not here tonight, as I know of; he's in Arizona out there. He's the chairman of the trustees here, and I knowed him being a veteran. And something was going to happen; a real pretty, still morning, about ten o'clock in the morning. And the boys all around there, ten or twelve of us, letting down tents, and skinning out pigs, and things. So we… I walked around, I said, "Roy, hide, quick. Something is fixing to happen." I couldn't tell him no more. But just the time I got over there…And coming down from the heavens come the whirlwind of God, and clapped, like, shook the hills, running inside of that mountain, cut a streak plumb around it, about five feet above my head, and cut all the tops of them trees off, as the rocks went out. Went up in the air and come down again, with another big baptism, and struck across the mountain, and throwed the rocks out like that. Did it three times, and then went up in the air.And Brother Banks come over to me, said, "That's what you said yesterday?"I said, "Yes, sir, that's exactly it." See?
E-90 And then two days after that, Alaska sunk, almost, up there. And up-and-down that West Coast has been the thunders and pushings, and everything happening. And one of these days she is going to slide beneath the ocean. Right. What is it? We're living in the hour of the Coming of the Lord.
E-91 We see isms and things rising up, and all these different things, we know there has got to be a true answer to this.There is people out here in the country now, a going into caves and things, "And on the 16th of March," you've read it in the paper, "the Lord is coming." You know that isn't so.Jesus said, "No man knows the minute or the hour."
E-92 When we see all these things, and things taking place the way they are, and there's got to be a true answer somewhere. There's got to be a Truth. There is one, east; and one, west; but there's a one, southeast, and northwest, or something. But there's got to be a true answer, somewhere, to the problem. [Blank.spot.on.tape—Ed.]
E-93 Shirk this? We must tell the people that we're living in the hours of the Coming of the Son of God. We want—want to watch and (God) be on the move, all the time, ready to give a man a correct answer.
E-94 It's always been that way. It's—it's been in man, has shirked and went away from God, ever since Adam, in the garden of Eden. When Adam was in the garden of Eden, when he come to the responsibility to make his choice, would he stay with God or go with his wife? He had to make that res-… he had to make that, the—the responsibility was up to him. He either had to take what his wife said or what God said. And when he chose to go the way of his wife, and when he did that, then he lost his original condition. And brought the whole world subject to death, when he had to take the responsibility, or either accepting a new light that his wife had found, which was contrary.O God! Think of it. God only give them about eight or ten Words to keep. "But of that tree thou shalt not eat." That's all they had to keep. And even with that much Word, they broke It.Then Adam had to face up, "Will I, will I do as my wife has said do, or shall I do what God said do?" And he walked out with his eyes open. He had to take the responsibility. That throwed the whole human race unto death.
E-95 Then there come that other Adam, which was Christ, never a one like Him! Somebody say He wasn't God? His uniqueness proved He was God. There never was a creature lived like Him. He lived in a world to Himself. He was born outside of the realm of the natural, sinful man. Hallelujah! He's the Creator Himself made flesh.Who could ever stand where He stood? Who ever talked like Him? Who could ever say the things that He said? Who could ever do the things that He done? His uniqueness proved He was God. There wasn't a prophet or nothing else could do what He done; Who could call the dead back from the grave, and Who could stop the skies, and do anything He wanted to do. He was God. Who could ever stand in His place? Who? What could He be but that perfect, immortal God, made flesh and dwelt among us!
E-96 Nothing ever compared with Him. He lived in a world to Himself. No man ever spake like Him. When He just opened His mouth, there was something about it, that was different from anybody else. Somebody said He was just an ordinary man; I defy that. He was God. That's what He was. For, no man ever spoke like Him, no man could speak like Him, because He was the living Word Itself made flesh, the manifestation of the fullness of God.
E-97 I will admit, them prophets had their message. They had them then; they have them now. But there was the fullness of the Godhead bodily, manifested there. He was the unique One, and He was the One that had to face the issue. With all of His great powers that He had, that He could have absolutely been the king of the world. He will be; and He, to His saints, He is now.
E-98 He stood there. What man would be poor, didn't have a place to lay His head? that even knowed where a fish swallowed a coin. Who, what man could take them big jugs of water and turn them into wine, and not have a place to lay His head? He had to face up to the responsibilities that had been given into His hand. What man, that could raise a man out of the grave, after he had been dead four days and rotten?Could He not have saved Hisself? Sure, He could; but if He did, He'd have not saved us. He had to face up to the responsibilities, and because of His obedience to the Word! Where, Adam's disobedience, and he had took the short cut, the—the way down to Tarshish. But Jesus took the way to Nineveh, to the Gentiles, to get Hisself a Bride. I'm glad that He did it, tonight. And we ought to face up to the facts, that we belong to Him, and take the world away. Amen!
E-99 Every man had to face up to that, that's got a responsibility before God. We just take, for instance, Noah. He had. Noah, Moses, Elijah, and all the rest of—of every age, had to face up to the responsibility. And they had to do it, but that's the reason they were sent in the hour.
E-100 Look at Noah in his scientific age, how he had to face up to a thing that was so unscientific. Why, there wasn't a—a—a reason why it couldn't be unscientific… See, it—it was unscientific, rather. Why, they said it's going to rain out of the skies. They never had rain to drop out of the heavens. Now, he had to face up to it. God said it was going to rain. And then he…
E-101 Then faith without works is dead; if you say, "I believe it," and don't make no act. Just like the Message, if you say, "I believe it," don't make an act, what good does it do? See? Noah went to work with his hammer and built an ark, to confirm what he was talking about. That's what we have to do, too. We have to go to work and prove our faith, by our works. Our works proves our faith.
E-102 Moses had to do it, and Elijah had to do it. Every prophet in his age had to stand up and face these responsibilities. But many of them didn't do like Jonah. He run; they didn't.
E-103 Notice, "Cry out against it." Oh, my! There it is. That's the subject, "Cry out against it." There is the check part.Just go there and tell those fellows, "Say, I come down to join up with you guys. You know, I believe I'll tell you what I'll do. I've got just a little thing here I believe I can make it a… bring us all together, and do this, that, or the other."But, it was, "Cry out against it," when you have to cry out against something. Now, he had to cry out against everything that was down there; cry out against the city, cry out against their work, cry out against their church, cry out against their prophets, cry out against their ministers, cry out against their priests. "Cry against it, the whole thing! Cry out against it!"
E-104 Noah cried out against his age. Sure, he did, against the churches of his age.Moses most certainly did cry out against his—his age; the people, the priests, and so forth. He cried all the way through the wilderness. And every junction, he cried, continually crying to the people.Elijah was very unpopular in his day, because he cried out against that age. Certainly was.
E-105 John the Baptist was very unpopular in his age. He cried out against his age. He said to the king, the—the potentate of the—of the land; he—he had, he married his brother's wife. He had to preach on marriage and divorce, one morning. So he cried out against it, he said, "It's not lawful for you to have her." It cost him, his head to be cut off, later, but he cried out and he stood to his post of duty.He never took a ship to Tarshish, and said, "Well, I'll agree with you, Herod. It's all right. As long as you think she's a nice woman, she's making you a nice wife, go ahead." Oh, mercy. Them dishrags, you see, yeah, just every little thing… Why, it's nothing but to clean dirty plates with.
E-106 But, notice, John wasn't that way. He faced right up to it. He said, "It's not lawful for you to have her." Yes, sir. And he stood out against it.
E-107 They never run. John didn't. They stood and faced the facts. Moses tried to run, one time, like Jonah, but God brought him back. Many of them tried to get away from it; they would start…But, look, if God has called you, and you are sure that God is in the Message, there is nothing going to turn you back. It didn't turn Jonah. No, sir.
E-108 Amos of old, cried out, said, "The lion has roared, who can but fear? And God has spake, who can but prophesy?" Who can but prophesy, when you see God speaks and said a certain thing will happen, and there it is?
E-109 A lion roars, everybody is scared, yes, sir, if you ever heard one roar in the jungle. You can hear these meowing around these cages out here, them tame lions, but you ought to hear a real, wild one roar one time. Little rocks will fall off the hill, five hundred yards away. I want to see where all that belch comes out of them lungs. And he throws his head down, throws that fur up; I never heard anything… Like a—a cannon going off, when he belches out that big roar in his lungs. Who couldn't be scared?They say, if you're ever killed by a lion, it's painless. He scares you to death 'fore he gets to you. See, you don't notice it. He scares you with that great ferocious roar, and here he is on you in a split second.
E-110 He said, "The lion has roared, who can but fear? And God has spoke, who can but prophesy?" When you see God doing something, you say… "I might not be a prophet…" Jonah said… "I might not be a prophet, or the son of a prophet. But God has spoke, who can but prophesy?"
E-111 I might not be a prophet, I might not be this, that, or the other. When I see God doing anything, and I see it here in the Word, and He promised it, who can hold their peace and keep still? Sure, He's done it.
E-112 Neither can we hide behind creeds and all these here fellowships, and down to—to Tarshish. We don't want to go with them fellowships.
E-113 But many, like Adam, do the same thing, try to make a substitute in some way, try to find a way out, and—and make a substitute, to face God. After knowing the wrong, faced up to the Truth, went along with his wife and did exactly what God told him not to do. He went right ahead and did it, anyhow. And then he found hisself naked, she and he, both, in the garden of Eden. Their eyes come open. They knowed what was right and wrong, then. And then he tried to find a substitute, to kind of cover himself up with it.Now, that's just about the way we do today, an excuse, say, "Well, I tell you, if it was here, or if this." Or, "if, if, if," that's just… See? But you must face up to it. It's either right or wrong. And if it's right, let's stay by it. If it's wrong, get away from it. That's all. Get what… Find out what is right. You don't want to wait any longer. Let's find out now what's Truth and what's right, and stay with it. We know that it's true.
E-114 Now, we find today that our people are so… It seems like all the sincerity has gone out of the churches. I… In the…
E-115 We are living in a house there of a precious sister that comes to this church. She is probably setting here tonight. And she rents it out to her… the people. And she has just been so sweet to us about that place, about letting us have that place. And so I'd call her name, but she might not want me to do it. And she's been so sweet to us, well, we certainly wouldn't—wouldn't want to expose her. But she has been a very, very dear woman. And in the house, there was a television over in one side. We got a little, two, duplex.I got a big family, and a bunch of youngn's, and we… and you—you know, and they have to have beds, and plenty of them. And everything piled up on top, and you have to walk through this and through that, to get in and out.
E-116 And then over there they had a television. And in this television, these kids got to watching, on Sunday morning, some kind of a hymn-singing that come on. And, you know, it—it would almost make you ashamed; if there wasn't a genuine Christianity somewhere that you could put your hands on, to see what's called Christianity. Why, it seems like all the sincerity is gone out of it. Why, they don't, they don't seem to… Why, it's just terrible the way they stand there and draw their fists and fight one another, on there, and try to sing hymns and everything like that; and pull jokes that hardly a sailor would pull, and say all kinds of things, and kid and go on. You know, the sacredness of—of—of Christianity has seemed to lose its place.
E-117 Now, I go to church and—and see the pastor get up there and announce that there—there is going to be a—a swimming bee. All the women in these bathing suits, they're all going out there. They're going to have a contest; these women, swimming. And they're going to have a—a party of some sort, and they're going to fry up a lot of—of chicken, and play bunco, and—and all these things like that. To me, that takes the genuine sincerity out of Christianity; just get by with anything.
E-118 I seen, coming up here, we find out… You know, we find more of our sisters wearing shorts, up here in this cold country, than you find them out there in that hot country. See, it's true. Out there where it's really hot, there's not too many of them that wear them. But here, where—where it's cold, they—they do it. See, it's, they don't realize it's the devil doing that. See? Now, if it was to be comfortable, if it was to help yourself, it'd be different. Be man, I think it looks sickly on a man, but—but you—you'd—wouldn't pay no attention to a man. But, the lady, her—her body is sacred, and she must keep it that way. And to see old…
E-119 You can see, people today. There is two spirits. And one of them is the Holy Spirit; the other one is a unholy spirit, and one is governed by that. And both of them religious. Now, yeah, that's the strange part, they're both religious. And just like Esau and Jacob was, both religious; like Cain and Abel was, both religious; like Judas and Jesus was, both religion, both religious. And we see it today, both sides, religious. See, it's the same spirit. The people die, but the spirit doesn't die. It goes right on, both religious.One of them is possessed with the Holy Spirit, that lives the kind of life that they should live, and walk godly and honest. They wouldn't beat you out of a penny, and they—they do everything honest that they could, to help you. And the others will… Just as nice as they can be.And the others, we find out, it's just vice versa. And, yet, both of them are religious spirits, two of them; one, Holy Spirit; and the other, an unholy spirit. And if you noticed, it'll, even though claiming religion, they'll make fun of you and call you a holy-roller. They do anything they can.
E-120 They, ignoring the—the unchanging Word of God, as though It never had been written.See, you can say, "Now, looky here, if—if the baptism…""I have the Holy Spirit!""And standing there with that cigar in your hand, smoking it?""Yes, I have the Holy Spirit! I don't think it's wrong to take a little drink. I don't think it…" See?And did you notice, "I don't think"? But God thinks different, you see, according to His Word. See? See, they… And they—they just simply as much as—as spit on It. That's exactly right.
E-121 Just as much as this little old crippled guy that crawled out that time, when David was being excommunicated from his throne. He was going up on the Mount of Olives, going out, weeping as he went up, looking back. And this little old fellow crawled out there and was spitting on him. And that guard said, "I'll let the… that dog's head stay on him, and spit on my king?David said, "Let him alone." See, they spit on him.
E-122 About eight hundred years later, they spit on his Son, Jesus Christ, too.And today they spit on Him again, as if It wasn't even just… Irreverent, unconcerned, just turn up their head and walk away from It, and laugh in your face. Why is it? They're on a ship to Tarshish. That's exact.This call to God, you got to cry out against evil, cry out against sin, cry against the things that's wrong. Now, remember, it'll be.Hey, you know, this time. You know, I'm two hours difference. And in Tucson it's just ten minutes after seven, and—and I'm getting kind of—kind of out of my place here. Huh? All right.
E-123 Now remember, we're going to have to answer for it. Remember, those who spit on Christ answer for it.When David returned back from his exile, when he was a fugitive, and when he returned back, remember, this fellow fell on his face and cried out for mercy. He spit on David, going out, but he was almost ready to bathe his feet with tears, and, when he returned back.And someday those who have pierced Jesus will see it.And those who are piercing Him today will see it, also. They, someday, it'll come back. Remember, Revelations 22, He requires us to keep every Word that He has written; every Word.
E-124 Now we know His Presence are here. It's vindicated. We are having it. We're trusting, in this coming week, it'll continue to be vindicated among us; the sick will be healed, and great things will be taking place.We don't want the popular idea. We want the Truth. And we don't, we (want) don't want to—we don't want to face up to nothing but what God has said is the Truth. But, "Be sure that your sins will always find you out." If it doesn't here, it'll get you at the Judgment. So you're—you're… It's going to catch you somewhere, now. Yes, sir.
E-125 But if you're a true Christian, truly called like Jonah was, God has already got your fare paid. Get off of that ship going to Tarshish, anyhow. God predestinated you to this life. Yes, sir. If you're a true, called child of God, come to Christ. Come into the fullness of Him. Your way is paid to where? It's paid to Nineveh, not to Tarshish. You're predestinated. Your ship… There's a ship leaving right now, on its road. So there's only one thing to do, is get on it. And if you was like God, you'll never have no peace…
E-126 Like my little nephew, a while ago. About ten years now, he's went from pillar to post. Some morning he goes to this church, this Catholic church down here, and take this one because what some holy father he talks about over here, and some other over here, and some over here. What does it all amount to? See? And now he is still hungering and thirsting. I said, "You're place is at the altar down there, son." See?There is no way of getting out of it. When God ever takes out after you, you just might as well give up and go on. That's all.
E-127 Remember, God! Well, God was in the boat. God was in the storm. God was in the fish. Everywhere he turned, God was there.See, God is there, and it'll just keep haunting at you. So why do we wait any longer? Let's just start this revival right. Right! What's you waiting on? We believe that the Coming of the Lord is at hand, and He is going to have a Bride, and It ready. And we don't want no ships to any Tarshish. We're going to Nineveh. We're going to Glory. Amen. That's right. We're going where God is going to bless, and that's what we want to do.
E-128 Lay out in the Presence of God, then, with our hearts; not our hands, so much, but our hearts before God, until He has seasoned us, through and through, like that, with the rays of His glory; and baked into us His—His goodness, and ripened that which we have got, into reality, see, to where we can show others that Jesus Christ live. Oh, my! We want to believe that.
E-129 And remember, where Jonah went, God was in the boat; God was in the storm; God was in the fish. He went on being right along with Jonah until His perfect will was done. That's right.And if He's ever after you, you might dodge over here, and dodge over there, but you'll be miserable until you come back and do the thing you started out for Him to do at the first place. See? Don't go, run from the Presence of God. Face up to it. You believe it's the Truth, then let… If it is the Truth, it's worth living for, dying for, anything else. And if He's ever vindicated it to you, that it is the Truth, then we can't run from it, nowhere. He'll be right there, just the same. You can't do it.
E-130 By His provided prophet, the one He ordained to go down there and call that message. Now, looked like He could have sent another prophet, but He ordained Jonah; and even Elijah wouldn't have done; Jeremiah wouldn't have done; Moses wouldn't have done. It was Jonah had to go to Nineveh. That's all there was to it. He commissioned him and told him to go. And when He says, "Go there, Jonah, go to Nineveh," nobody else can go do that but Jonah.And when God tells you something, you've got to do it; nobody else. See, we just have to face up to it, and, and go do it.
E-131 We believe that we're living in the hour that when God is a doing something. We believe that we're living among them now. I believe tonight I'm preaching to that congregation that—that's laying, waiting out there just to get ripe. I—I really believe that, with all my heart. I would say it's the same now as it's always been.
E-132 Now, we believe that the hour has come that Saint John 14:12 must be fulfilled. We, we believe that Malachi 4 must be fulfilled. We believe that Luke 17:30 must be fulfilled. We believe that, all these prophecies that He said would come to pass in this day. We believe they must be fulfilled, and we believe we're seeing them fulfilled right now. That's exactly right.
E-133 Stop running. Don't get out of His Presence; just move up into His Presence. That's right. And I know that's what you're desiring to do. Cause, I seen licenses out there from Texas, and Louisiana, and everywhere. That's what we're here for, is not to run from His Presence, but to run into His Presence.Come back, get off the… [Blank.spot.on.tape—Ed.]… been a Jonah, if you've been wondering which way to go or what to do, come on, get on the ship with us tonight. We're going down to Tarshish, to cry out… or, Nineveh, to cry out. We're letting that Tarshish ship go on down if they want to. We've got a duty before God, that's, a Message that we're responsible for.
E-134 So in this coming week, just a little prelude tonight, to let you know. When I'm crying out, I'm solely responsible for a Message, brethren. You ministers setting here, I'm not here to hurt your feelings. And you women and man, on this marriage and divorce case coming up, I want you to remember tonight. I've said all this, to get this to you, that I am responsible only to God.And then, again, I'm responsible to you, to tell you the Truth. And I'm not going to tell you nothing but the Truth, as long as God lets me know what Truth is. Until I know the Truth, I won't say nothing about it, see, I won't say nothing about it. But I do believe that God shows me the Truth on Marriage And Divorce, and I trust that He'll let me bring it out.
E-135 And other Messages I aim to have this week, is, Who Is This Melchisedec? Where Did God Choose To Put His Name? And a few of those things like that, which are Messages coming up, and Birth Pains. And—and a few things, that on—on that order, and complementary to A Man Choosing His Wife. E-136 Where, if there would be a minister here; I'm not here, my brethren… I don't want you, or some of you members, go back to your church, and say, "Brother Branham said thus and thus."I am duty bound to a Message that's been given to me from Almighty God. As I stand here tonight, and God knows that's true, that right down on this river… There is people, perhaps, setting here, when that Angel of the Lord come down there and told me what He did, right there in 1933, right down on this Spring Street here. If you're a stranger here, drive right down. It's corner of Spring Street, there where you hit the river, and there is where it happened. That's been in 1933. It's probably been about thirty-two years ago, then. Oh, it's been thirty-… it's been thirty-… thirty-two years ago, thirty-two years ago.And how that He has brought that right down, everything. And we've went out, bringing the Message, and seen the sick healed, the blind, and the crippled, and lame, and halt, and everything. And then see even the dead, that we know that's been verified, raised up from the dead. The people die, and raised right back to life again, and all these things. If a Message goes forth, there is signs and wonders!
E-137 And you still see that same old school of thought that you come up with? That didn't come from God. God don't just have to do…God is trying to get your attention attracted to Something.
E-138 And then when Jesus went out, He started healing the sick, and doing great works and things. He, alway, He… Jesus did it. And Moses and Jesus done it, and the rest of them. And when He was here, He did it.And He's doing it, the same thing today. When He sends forth a meeting like that, revivals, and starts a meeting in the earth, and starts a moving along with these great signs and wonders. And then you see, come back, that same old school of teaching, there—there is something wrong there somewhere. There is something new coming forth! When Jesus came out, after, when…
E-139 "He is a fine rabbi." He could go to any pulpit and preach, when He was healing the sick. When, oh, they liked to have Him over there.But one day when He set down, and said, "I and My Father are One," brother, He wasn't so popular after that. When He said, "Except you eat My flesh, and drink My Blood, you have no Life in you. But he that eats My flesh, and drinks My Blood, has everlasting Life; and I'll raise him up at the last day." Then, He wasn't so popular from then.
E-140 They said, "This Man is a vampire. This Man is a Beelzebub. That's the way He done them things. He could tell fortunes. He looked through their—their minds and perceived their thoughts. He's a fortuneteller."But, what it was, He—He was the Word of God made manifest for that hour. And He was duty bound. He said, "I do always that which is pleasing to My Father." God help us to do the same thing, do that which is pleasing to the Father.
E-141 And I hope you all will understand. If you disagree with me on these Messages and things, that you'll remember, at least have this respect, that I have a responsibility, and I'm not going to Tarshish. I'm on the road to Nineveh, and I—I got to cry out. The Lord bless you all.Let us bow our heads now just a moment.
E-142 It's almost nine-thirty. I don't want to keep you, but I want to find this if I can, tonight. Is there some here that—that just isn't exactly where you should be in Christ, but you—you would want to be, and you desire to be, would you just raise up your hand, say, "Brother Branham, pray for me"? God bless you, just look at the hands. "I—I want… I'm here, Brother Branham, to get closer to God."And if your head was raised, my—my hand is up, too. That's what I'm here for. I'm hungering, like you are.
E-143 But, oh, the other day, one of the most grandest things happened, and I—I know now what to do. And I—I pray that God will give you that clear understanding. It's there. The… If there's a question in your mind, there's got to be an answer somewhere, to answer back to that question. My prayer, is, God let you see that question answered during this time.
E-144 If you're sick, may God heal you. We're going to have healing services, I guess, practically every night, and we are going to pray for the sick. We're going to do anything that we can to help you, and you do everything you can to help us. And we'll work together, trusting God will give us a great meeting.
E-145 Now, Father God, these few little cut-up words, but they're in Your hands now. Lord, they've been said. I'll have to meet it. Just like… Them words can never die; they're going around and around the earth, on a record, and someday I'll have to face it right back again. I realize this, Lord, and I say it with deepness of sincerity.
E-146 I pray, dear God, tonight, for each one of these, Your children. And, O God, I trust, before the week is over, they'll—they'll understand; that the question, that's so great in their mind tonight, will be settled. Grant it, Lord.
E-147 There is some here who doesn't know You, Father, as Saviour, yet, or maybe has never been filled with the Holy Spirit. May this be that night.
E-148 Lord, I cannot fill nobody with the Holy Ghost; neither can I save anybody. I can only tell them what You said, "Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled." And I pray, God, that You'll create such a hunger in their hearts.Many, Lord, they've got to be hungry; how would they drive these hundreds of miles, through ice and everything, and over rainy mountains, and across deserts, to come to a little old place setting here on the corner! Then I think again, You said, "Where the Carcass is, the eagles would be gathered." Feed us, Lord, upon Thy Divine Manna. Give to our souls that what we really need. We are thirsting for You, Father. We're in Your hands now.
E-149 Let the great Holy Spirit that come down on the mountain the other day up there, I pray that He'll saturate every heart in here with His goodness and mercy, with understanding. We realize, Father, that's what we need, is to understand. For if we do not know what we're doing, then how do we know how to do it? But we must have understanding. As Daniel said, he had "understanding by the prophet Jeremiah's Writing." And, Father, we have understanding by the Holy Spirit's Writing, as He will reveal It to us in this hour. Give to us, Lord, the desires that we have for Thee. Tenderly we ask this, Father, for Your glory, in the Name of Jesus Christ.
E-150 Now with our heads bowed. As our sister is chording that, "He will give me grace and glory, and go with me all the way." I want you just to silently pray now and ask the Heavenly Father that He will grant to you, tonight, that what you have need of.
E-151 Brother dear, sister dear, He's just as close as your arm is to you. You, you've believed me in—in other things, believe me in this. He is here to give you whatever you have need of.
E-152 Oh, for the last few weeks I've been so hungry, so thirsty, so homesick, to see you. That's the reason I said, "Billy, let's go home."Meda said, "What do you want to go back there, in that cold country again for, Bill? You always get a sore throat and everything. You always come out, and head cold, and you're hoarse, and you can't hardly talk."
E-153 I said, "Well, I don't know." I said to her… I see my friend, Charlie Cox, setting back there. I said, "I'm just anxious to hear Charlie say, 'That little squirrel clim'ed that tree over there.' I just get so hungry to hear it." I—I just want to—want to be around you.
E-154 I know my Brother Banks got real sick. And I saw a vision of him, here not long ago, and he was laying on his back. And I know he come pretty near going from us, recently. When I look at the different ones of you…
E-155 I come in the other night, to the Christian Business Men's meeting, and international. Old "Pop" Shakarian, Demos' father, he used to set there and just keep looking till I come in, then he'd smile, and that little wave he would wave at me. He wasn't there. He's gone.Then I had to come to that family, with THUS SAITH THE LORD, their daughter is going to die, too. Florence, I saw her in a vision, saw her go. And I know she is going. And I said, "Pray, just pray. You know there's… A prophet one time was told to go tell a king put his house in order. And he prayed, and He spared his life, fifteen years longer." I said, "Pray."
E-156 But, you look, and I—I come back… I set over here in a restaurant, the other day, eating. A man walked up to me, said, "Aren't you Billy Branham?"I said "Yes."
E-157 He probably didn't know me, 'cause this over this bald spot on my head. I was wearing this little piece of hair, to keep from getting a sore throat during this meeting.And he walked up to me, he said, "I thought I knew you, Billy."I said, "Yes." I said, "Who are you?"Said, "I'm John Warman."I said, "How is Zip?"He said, "Billy, he died." Uh!
E-158 I was coming down through the courthouse; went down to pay my taxes. Coming down through the courthouse, and a lady hollered at me, and she said, "Did you know John is gone?" Or, some name. It might not have been John; Ed, or something. And I said… I didn't know the woman. I felt embarrassed. And come to find out, I didn't know who she was.She said, "Do you remember one dark night when the river was up over the banks out here, and houses washing away, over on Chestnut street, and you risked your life to go into a place and get a woman and some little children out?"I said, "You her?"
E-159 She said, "I—I'm the lady." She begin to scream for her baby; you know my story. She said, "That one that I called 'my baby,' is married and got a family." See? And here she is, old and gray; and here I am, too.
E-160 One by one, our cards go out of the rack, as it was. And we have meetings, and I miss this one, miss that one. We all got to come up missing, one of these days.But, brother, sister, there is a gathering Place. Let's be sure now that we're right. Will you? Don't let all our understanding of God, and so forth, go in vain. Let's believe.

Let's just—let's just all consecrate ourselves to God, just dedicate ourselves over to the Lord.

We're here around the altar. Many could not come up; You'll meet them at their seats. Whatever we offer, Lord, You're willing to receive. If we just offer You our time, You will receive it; talent, You will receive it. But, Lord God, tonight we're going beyond that, we're offering all we are. All that I am, all that I ever expect to be, all is in You, Lord. E-166 I pray, dear God, for each one of these. These dear people that I stood yonder in the mountains in Arizona and cried about, and here they are knelt around the altar with us tonight, praying, consecrating our lives. We love You, Father, more than our own lives. We love You more than our families. We love You more than wife, children, father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife. We love You, Lord Jesus. Make that so real in our hearts, Lord. Pour in the oil of gladness, this week, Lord, in our souls. Give us a bathing, a washing of the Word, by the water of the Word, dividing unto us Truth.
E-167 Many here tonight, Lord, and will be here, that's confused on these subjects that's vital. O God, open that fountain in the house of God, that—that's for cleansing us. I pray, God, that You'll wash us and cleanse us in Thy Blood, and make us new creatures. And give us grace and strength, to bring forth the Word of Truth in Its Divine revelation of the Being of Jesus Christ.May He appear before us, Lord. May He come and heal our sickness, forgive our sins, fill our hungry hearts with good tidings of great joy, the Gospel made manifest in our lives.Bless every pastor, every song leader, every Sunday school teacher.
